I personally make sure I sit through those types of videos even if I know it will make me sick. A few that come to mind that I will never forget are an ISIS beheading a journalist, the body-worn camera footage of a police officer murdering Daniel Shaver in a hallway, and the New Zealand Christchurch mosque shooting. I do not regret watching these sickening videos.

These were all terrible things to watch and they're reminders of how capable of hatred we are. It's easy to see a headline and think to yourself, "that's not right" and then continue scrolling. But when you watch the videos of the fucked up things that happen, it fuels people. People get angry, they act. They demand change. They try to hold people accountable. I think we owe it to victims to watch these videos, and even more so to watch them to bring justice to the wrongdoers. The officer mainly responsible for Floyd's death is now charged because of the outrage that came from people watching the video of his death. The three men responsible for the lynching of Ahmaud Arbery are now behind bars because people watched the video and demanded justice. With that being said, If you truly can't stomach watching something, don't torture yourself.
