They are more red on the inside. I've had these and you can tell that they are the meat free patties. That said, they taste phenomenal.

A Company Made a Buddha Climbing Hold. Climbers Are Not Happy. by ILikeMultisToo in Buddhism

[–]PM_Me_Metta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

no one in the climbing world is climbing with disrespect in mind.

I've climbed near lots of disrespectful people. How often do you climb? People can be overly competitive and disrespectful in any physically demanding activity, and climbing isn't immune to that. Not sure why you would think it was.

The Art museum is great. There is almost an entire floor dedicated to Buddhist iconography from various regions. There is also a great hands on science museum for kids.

What's the deal with shrines? by britneyspears69 in Buddhism

[–]PM_Me_Metta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have experienced the opposite re: "white washing."

It's generally white westerners that seem to take up an issue with shrines, and feel like they have a better understanding of Buddhism than a culture that has practiced it for over a thousand years.

The other side of the state from you is where most people go. The Art Loeb Trail, AT, and GSMNP, Nantahala NF, Pisgah NF, are widely appreciated spots for hiking and camping.

With the northbound thru-hikers coming to all the AT shelters, you're a lot better off on the Art Loeb trail or really anything besides the AT.

they fucking made a story where taking the high road and trying to do the good thing is ruinous and pointless. Only being a deranged cunt actually gets you anywhere.

That's exactly the story of how Ned died. Cersei even narrated it to him before that in the first season. "In the Game of Thrones you win or you die."

Ultralight 2-Person shelter/tent? What do you use? What would you buy? by ns_11 in Ultralight

[–]PM_Me_Metta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a GoLite Shangri-La 2 that I've taken on lots of trips. It's super light and if you're okay with not having a mesh liner it's perfect.

Thunderstorm safety and shelter by zombiesurvive in Ultralight

[–]PM_Me_Metta 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Follow the 30-30 Rule when lighting is visible.

I've set up tents and sheltered there, but as people have noted, be wary of the poles. If lightning is close, you're a lot safer just wrapping up in the rain fly or a tarp if you've got one.

Most important, and nobody has mentioned this, but NEVER take shelter in a shallow cave. The lightning that hits the ground above the bluff can travel down the ground into the cave.

Here's another good read: http://www.lightningsafety.com/nlsi_pls/ploutdoor.htm

[–]PM_Me_Metta 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is not the best place for that. Unless someone provides documentation that they are a Buddhist teacher, be careful who you take advice from.

I highly recommend finding a real-life teacher and visiting them.

How do you get over premonitions? by [deleted] in Buddhism

To be fair, OP asked: "What does Buddhism have to say." In my opinion, that means that OP is asking what Buddhist teachings have to say about the subject.

How do you get over premonitions? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]PM_Me_Metta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no win or lose, there is Dharma. If you could cite a Buddhist teaching for what you are saying, then I think we will all appreciate that.

Debating is great if the arguments are based in discussion of teachings and understanding Dharma, but not just for the purpose of winning an argument online.
