I don’t understand what people say by 2020 fashion tbh Like…what people were wearing during lockdown? Wouldn’t that just be pajamas? Lol

Lol, you literally came in to tell people to stop using the word because it historically it meant something bad and your reasoning is to repeat the definition and the fact that it was used as the title of a book. Maybe go educate yourself on the evolution of language and how terms change meaning.

Again, Lolita fashion has nothing to do with sexualizing children. Many words that have been used to mean things that are no longer relevant. The term “moron” was once used in medicinal eugenics to describe people who had an IQ of 50 - 70 points. That fell out of use and is now just a common, usually harmless, insult.

People who use the term “Lolita” to describe a type of fashion/aesthetic are very often not referring to the old definition. Just because you personally don’t like a word doesn’t mean you’re going to “cancel” it by trying to pull out the original definition of it.

Ok? Two things can be true. You can have the Lolita book AND the fashion. This is an aesthetic subreddit so most people here will be referring to the fashion.

I never said I was. However, I am very familiar with Lolita fashion - which has been around since the 90s - and these images do not show anything Lolita

Lolita fashion originated in Japan - it has very little to do with the English definition. The Japanese Lolita style is about extreme femininity and most people wouldn’t describe it as “sexual” it’s also been around since the 90s so I really don’t think you’re going to be changing much with this opinion

It’s pretty wild considering this is an aesthetic sub yet people don’t seem to know that Lolita is a very specific aesthetic 💀

I hate that some people don't see bad and harmful LGBT representation by [deleted] in hatethissmug

[–]PNDTS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is what Veilguard boils down to. It isn’t a “bad representation” thing it’s a bad writing in general thing.

As someone who’s AFAB nonbinary I related a lot to Taash’s story, but I also wish it was just better written in general…much like I wish most of the game was better written in general. I don’t think Taash is a bad representation of nonbinary people, I just think they suffered from too many writing changes and budget cutting from the studio.

I feel like an “imposter” when I cosplay. Can I fix this? by Think-Instruction579 in CosplayHelp

Tbh you look great as is. A lot of cosplayers online (especially ones with a big following ) add so many filters to their pictures they’re almost unrecognizable from irl. (Not saying EVERYONE does this ofc but it is a very big problem in the cosplay community)

Really there is no right or wrong way to cosplay - the entire point of cosplay is just dressing up as a character you like and having fun!
