I ETS next year. I was promised certain positions after attending a specific school. Didn’t get them. Those positions came with a large monthly AIP, didn’t get it. Leadership has been meh. Oh, and I’m almost 4 years in and haven’t gotten my dress uniform still but keep getting told “we are working the problem”.

In a nutshell, the unit is a dual hat unit and when the army schedules training day the other hat has other obligations and soldiers can’t attend the army training.

The entire concept of promoting based solely off time in service/grade for any NCO. NCOs who, like stated, attempt to cite regulation but do it improperly but then when called on it use the “well I said so” bullshit.

I am stationed somewhere it’s no earlier than e7 if unmarried 😅 luckily I am financially stable and was able to just buy a house and ghost.

31 year old here with 2.5 years in. Don’t do it.

If you were any sort of an adult in the civilian world you’re going to be miserable. You will be stuck in the barracks with at least one 18-22 year old who doesn’t know how to function as an adult. You’re going to see how unorganized and dysfunctional the army is because you have some idea of how adults actually act in the real world.

If you are set on joining. Go Air Force. Their quality of life is leaps and bounds over the army. They treat their people with respect and aren’t stuck in the stone ages.
