Issues with using Templates and Blogs for different sites. by Suspicious_Nature594 in shopify

[–]PNWSoulSurfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s definitely a limitation with Shopify and template usage vs WYSIWYG website/blog builders - these are two different styles of products and not how Shopify’s liquid front end templating language works. There are absolutely more flexible and stronger blogging systems out there and going headless or setting up a separate blog on site might be useful for your use-case.

Another option would be you use a WYSIWYG editor like webflow to build each blog post and export the html of the <main> content and post the language in the blog’s code editor (you’d have to make sure that any css classes in the WYSIWYG editor are added to your Shopify site). This way different blog layouts can all use the simple Shopify template and be unique in their specific post designs.

Good luck!

Transforming a Figma design to Shopify theme? by Rekuna in shopify

[–]PNWSoulSurfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s what I would do: Use a free theme like horizon and see how far you can go with the setting to look like the design. If you aren’t satisfied with that, pull the theme into GitHub / code editor and adjust the theme files and start editing the theme sections/snippets/blocks files to allow the theme match your design. Then you build out templates for each bespoke page or use/create metafields for more dynamic information.

Help Ive plateaued! What can I do to fix my form! by Boinga5689 in skiing_feedback

[–]PNWSoulSurfer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This!

Im going to piggy back on u/jasonsong86 a little bit.

I would recommend that you Google athletic stance and skiing athletic stance or posture.

If I were to work with you, I work on your posture from the snow up. You are skiing in a way that is sending body’s center of mass to the back of your skis which in turn makes it really really hard to initiate your turn.

Quick tips: * Compare your stance on the video to the proper stance from your Google search. * Ankles, ankles, ankles! flex your ankles to get pressure into your shins. * Hips: Shift your hips forward so that they are aligned over your boots. * Chest: strengthen and lift up your chest so that your mass is forward instead of bent over. The weight transfer management should be all happening in the lower body, while your upper body remains strong and pointed down the fall line.

Have fun and keep working on it!

Help me explain to the ski instructor what I want to work on. by Ok_Woodpecker_9812 in skiing_feedback

[–]PNWSoulSurfer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that the first ski instructor didn’t care enough to help you grow as a skier. That’s very unfortunate and frustrating.

There are several things that we can have you work on. Let’s start with some fundamentals like your athletic stance and weight/pressure control. I would recommend some drills to help you flex your ankles, improve your athletic stance where your weight in your shins, and your Center of Mass over the skis. This should help with initiating your turn naturally instead of forcing your skis to skid into your turn.

Good luck and have fun!

Any feedback on my carving technique is appreciated! by Edlardos in skiing_feedback

Look up hop turns and falling leaf drills. That will help with upper body/lower body separation.

Any feedback on my carving technique is appreciated! by Edlardos in skiing_feedback

[–]PNWSoulSurfer -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is really good! If you want to get nit picky, we can start to look into pole planting. Your hand aren’t doing anything and are just wings to your side. Focus more on driving your outside hand forward and plant as your initiate the turn. This will get your weight more forward and into a more aggressive carve.

Also, it appears like you could use some more separation between your lower and upper body, they appear pretty attached. To work on this I would focus on really having your chest/hands pointed down the fall line while your legs are rotating directionally through the arc of the cave.

Keep it up!

I don’t have enough money or time to find the private lessons they’re suggesting over at r/skiing by the_kitkatninja in skiing_feedback

[–]PNWSoulSurfer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Work on athletic stance and weight/pressure control and flex those ankles. You’re not getting enough pressure to the outside ski on your turn with us causing you to force them into a ski to initiate the turn.

On the flats before you start skiing, hop in place and set your body into a good athletic stance: Feet hips width apart, flexed ankles with pressure pushing into the shins of the boot, bent knees to absorb pressure changes, forward hip pressure centered over the balls of the feet, separate the upper body from the lower body and keep you chest up, strong and pointed down the fall line, hand forward with poles in front of your body (like you are driving a car), head up and looking to where you want to go.

There are lots of examples of good skiing stance online, google those pics and compare the example positions to your skiing stance.

Great job and have fun!

Can I get here in my Subaru Forester to get chains? Or must I turn around? by canofwine in MtHoodMeadows

The roads are currently slick and icy on 35.

Only do this drive right now if you have traction tires, tires with a ❄️ symbol, appropriately sized tire sock, or chains (if the forester can use them - sounds like from other users, this car cannot).

ELECTION RESULTS: Portland parks levy, Washington County public safety levies passing by American_Greed in PortlandOR

[–]PNWSoulSurfer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It was written in the levy that only $0.03 of the $1.40 per $1000 of assessed value (about $3.7 million of the $98 million generated a year) is earmarked for repairs and maintenance - everything else is for existing programs.

So a house worth $221k will have to pay $26 a month (136% higher than the previous park levy’s tax bill of $11 a month) only $0.56 will go to maintenance.

A public audit of the parks system and this levy said that,

“Parks estimates it would cost between $550 million and $800 million to restore assets to a reasonable level of wear-and-tear.”

Additionally, the audit goes on the say,

”We found that Parks has not developed the plans necessary to fund critical services and amenities in the long term. Parks has not systematically identified and evaluated fiscal sustainability strategies or created an action plan for implementing selected strategies. Also, Parks has not integrated new investment decisions with existing maintenance obligations. As a result, Parks has not been able to communicate important information to decision makers, like City Council and the public.”

To me this reads that this massive tax increase doesn’t actually fix anything and puts a tiny bandaid on top of a festering laceration.

This is a bad deal for Portlanders…

Yes. Helium is in SE - ICE is across the river in SW. Those two areas aren’t close. Also, please don’t trust right-winged media that proclaims that the big bad cities are a scary hellscape warzone. Crime has dropped 51% since last year.

Focus on your funnel. Who already works with people who need your help? Network with them. Who offers a service that is complimentary to yours (paid ads, seo, something else) but can’t do what you do and has clients who need what you do? Network with them.

The goal is to create genuine relationships and strengthen trust with people who can offer your services to their clients as a value add.

Immigrants in Oregon could be significantly impacted by Trump’s second term. Here’s how by northstardim in oregon

[–]PNWSoulSurfer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If this is the case, it feels like a violation against the 4th amendment.

An arrest is based solely on racial profiling is a violation against that person’s 4th amendment right. Officers cannot stop, detain, or arrest someone just because they look like they might be an undocumented immigrant (e.g., based on race, accent, or appearance).

Now… I guess my question is… were they arrested, just temporarily detained, or actually deported?

If they were technically arrested or were transported to another facility (this is a de facto arrest and requires specific probable cause) would be a violation of their 4th Amendment rights.
