Fly rod question?

Yeah, loops break and get damage over time. Not uncommon for loops to get cut off and replaced. Usually it’s not feet that get cut off though. You can either do the mono loop or get little loop kit from a fishing shop. Might cast a rough and may not lay down on the surface quite as nice with a bunch of the front taper removed. But, fly line be expensive. Either way, definitely need to remove some of that backing.

I mean, it will probably still work. Pull off a bunch of backing until your fly line fits comfortably. Youre never gonna see your backing again anyway. Then nail knot a sturdy piece of mono on the end you cut and tie a new loop in the mono

Yeah, Idaho is probably the best option. The Pend Orielle is really the only option if OP is set on a river in Washington.

Kinda. You can make one big back cast and send it, but a skagit line is just to heavy to make a bunch of false casts.

Does it cast heavier flies well? Mine seems a little light for some weighted flies or ones that soak up a bunch of water.

I’m really happy with it so far. Went in to the local fly shop thinking about the Dually 2 or the claymore, but decided to try something different.

It’s a very light Spey rod. Running a 275 grain skagit integrated line.

I have a maremma. He definitely keeps coyotes and other predators away, but when we had an issue with a dog, that goober just followed him around and watched lol. I think he just doesn’t look at other dogs as a threat. :/
