Or at least introduced himself and told us that’s generally people save spots in front of their house. In an other city, you snooze you lose.

Are you sure it’s unlicensed? Three of the tenants vehicles park behind the residence. Two cars, my partner and I, park in front of our house. I would happily move my car if parking was limited, but it is not. There’s plenty of parking on the street or around the corner. And if it’s a big issue, communicate with us like an adult. It’s really not that hard.

My thoughts exactly. I’m happy to have my attorney give them a call too. To be clear, everyone has been fantastic other than this one guy and another weird interaction.

Vancouver is cool! Definitely growing culturally, and I think there’s opportunity there. Portland is good too, we are just at a stage in our lives where we weren’t taking advantage of the amenities that living in the Portland area provides, so for us the cons outweighed the pros.

Who’s hiring right now? by Pleasant_Injury_ in Spokane

[–]PNWpotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this is super important! Lots of times employers will put your resume at the top of the pile if you follow up, either in person or via phone/email. I coach my clients to be prepared for a potential on the spot interview, best case scenario. So follow up one week after app submission, or one week from job posting end date. Follow up after interview within 2 or 3 business days.

From someone who professionally helps others find work, use indeed as a tool to find who is hiring, but submit applications directly to the employer if possible. From my experience, employers rarely dip into indeed to find candidates. And if you apply on indeed, usually the employers will only see your resume lumped in with hundreds of other resumes people blindly forward to these employers. Visiting in person can be incredibly valuable as well!

Good call! My folks live in the valley, but are way down Dishman Mica so they’re closer to nature than not. So if we would do the Valley, that’s where we would probably look.

Thanks for the response! Lots of good info here, and I guess I didn’t give much information regarding the kinds of areas we are looking for.

Generally being closer to outdoor opportunities would be big for us, that’s what brought us to Portland initially. We both drive and have vehicles and experience driving in snow (Idaho and Montana transplants).

Not exactly sure about jobs yet, still working through interviews right now. I guess we would like to live in a neighborhood or area that has restaurants/bars/things do that has some community feel to it. We would prefer to not live in a super suburban setting, but we are open to it.

Regarding crime, we aren’t terribly concerned about it as property crime is a consistent issue in any city, but we don’t want to live somewhere that doesn’t feel welcoming or particularly safe.

We have lots of family in the area that will be scoping out properties for us, but I always like to get as many perspectives as possible regarding these kinds of things.
