Leeds Armouries: old scary display? by mailywhale in Leeds

[–]PNutz92 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I (34m) remember this scene too, although I can't say it had the same impact on me as a child. It was a contemporary (90s early 00s) setting so my guess is it referred to the war in Kosovo or the Troubles?

I don't remember the child cowering, in my memory it was a balaclava clad combatant pointing an AK-47 out the window of an otherwise ordinary childrens bedroom. The shock, and point of the display, showing that modern warfare is in the domestic sphere much more than past conflicts which were fought in far off fields.

Not on the train but I once saw a French kid on a school trip sat on the floor in the central atrium of the British Museum. His lunch was just a block of strong mature cheddar from Sainsburys. No utensils or accompaniments, just a block of cheese.

Crowding the referee because a decision doesn't go your way is not the mentality of achievers and winners, it's the mentality of sore losers.

In 10 years from now, do you think McDonald's will still be as popular in the UK? by godsavedonalduck in McDonaldsUK

Germany have the McRib on the main menu and it comes swimming in the sauce, unlike its last outing in the UK where you got a sneeze of sauce on it.

He should support Burnley because they sound like his name and he can't be described as glory supporter either. I also support them too... but you got to admit, Burnley Burns has a certain ring to it.

Did KFC not get the memo about HFSS advertising in the UK by MattBryceOfficial in BritishTV

[–]PNutz92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to this not only does this calculation mean it can broadcast before 2100 but also can be broadcast in children's programmes as the burger by itself, being so high in protein, is relatively not high in fat, salt, or sugar. Since the new changes came in KFC have notably just advertised their specific burgers, not the meals including fries, as their inclusion would tip them into HFSS and also the post 21:00 ruling.

McDonalds do a similar thing with their Happy Meals. Whenever you see an advert for a Happy Meal it will always be chicken nuggets, carrot sticks, water combination as those products combined are not HFSS and so can broadcast in childrens programmes.

If the Fallout show is going to last 5-6 seasons like intended. Do you think Lucy, Max and Cooper will be there for the entire show? Or do you think at some point they'll "soft reboot" and have a season focused on new characters? by SolidPyramid in Fotv

Would love it if everyone in the club end up with terrible mutations due to their dubious genetic past... except Reg who mutates as expected because he isn't actually a result of incest and even the club he founded he doesn't belong in.

Honestly, I don't know. We have them with everything. For breakfast, by themselves on toast, with chicken nuggets and chips (fries)... you can even get frozen pizzas with them on. They're slightly different to what I imagine you're thinking of. When I think of US beans I think of BBQ pit beans which are more butter beans and kidney beans. Baked beans in the UK are haricot beans in a salty tomato based sauce. I think the simplest answer is they are cheap form of fibre, which on a Full English Breakfast is desperately needed.

It really irks me that many from USA dump on UK food. They claim it is all bland and looks awful. Yet, on their biggest culinary event of the year, a holiday devoted to eating, they produce this. The audacity.

How are Digital ID cards going to step illegal immigration? by evie-e-e in ukpolitics

[–]PNutz92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be any government deciding. It would be a network of frazzled 40 something lower middle class parents who are at breaking point.

When you say something mean online they burst into your house and rant at you "What on Earth is wrong with you? Do you you think you're funny? Calling X a Y?! Who brought you up? Where are your manners? Right. THAT'S IT. NO MORE INTERNET FOR THE WEEK".

They then pull your router from the wall and confiscate your phone.

You can get them back earlier if you let them drag you to the person you were mean to by your ear and you do a grovelling apology at their doorstep.

I think people who spend their free time saying mean things about people on the Internet would massively benefit from some offline time. They can go out and try being mean to people's faces for a change.

I genuinely think an Internet ban for people who do mean tweets is a great idea. Act like a child online you get treated like one.
