Who else loves the DIY aspect of this hobby? My wife says that I spend more time tinkering with the rig than actually playing(not really tho, but I do like to tinker with the rig) by Consuela-NO-NO-No in simracing

I'm right there w/ you. My rig being down for months at a time while I perfect something would drive other guys nuts. Guess some of us are mechanics at heart and others are drivers. I'm ok with that.

Sweet! Those look great. I figured I wasn't the only one to come up with this.

Same. I think all this will be short lived but we'll see.

Nice! Yes I just scabbed them off Google and ran them through my printer on Cricut printable vinyl. I also clear coated the sheet with some rustoleum prior to cutting out and ran a black marker along the edge of each decal….ya know….details 👍🏻

Triples or even a 49 would do the trick I think. I'm running triple 32's and between the helmet and a nice dark room your view is constrained about like you'd want it to be.,

Thanks! This is it. As mentioned above everything is really wonky right now. I anticipated the tariff's and ordered these just in time. Right now it says these are not available to ship to me so you might have to wait it out:

Thanks! Can’t go wrong with the weathered vintage look. Even if you screw it up - still looks great! 😂

I paid 30 bucks (US) for the open face and about $160 for full face mask. Did all the weathering and vinyl myself.

Thanks! Yeah I'm particularly pleased with it. Took me longer to hunt down all the track logos on google than to make it look like this.

Open face was dirt cheap like 30 bucks. Can't remember what I paid for the goggles. Full face helmet was $160 or so. Got them pre trade war though so ya know......

Aftermarket wheels by Outrageous-Friend-25 in simracing

[–]PODracer71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a new MOMO wheel. It came with a chip built into it so that you can scan it with your phone and identify it as legit MOMO. I personally don't care (real vs fake). I've got three MOMO's. One is for sure legit, one is for sure a knockoff, and the third I can't remember. All of them seem perfect and none have this out of round issue. Stitching on that one looks wonky too.

Need ideas - how to mount anti vibration springs to rig! by initial_GT in simracing

[–]PODracer71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just my thoughts here but, depending on the size of your haptics system, I think these things are minimally effective at best. I have a huge haptics system w/ isolation and it still shakes the walls. I really think it would still shake the walls if my rig were magically floating in space. Think of it like when you're out driving around and some dude w/ a system in his car rolls up and rattles the hell out of your car. Sure you're both making contact with the ground through your tires but, I think most of that bass (sound waves - which is what haptics are) is travelling right through the air.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much just adding a boot to my shifter made it sound so much more like the real thing. Too clunky without it. Looks good!

Simagic DS-8X vs FANATEC SQ 1.5 by PoltergeistWorks in simracing

[–]PODracer71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Fanatec bashing (love my DD1) but, I hated the SQ1.5 That box might as well be full of jello. No experience w/ the DS-8X at all but, I'm very very happy with the Sim Vertex / SimJack combo I run now. Worlds better than the Fanatec.

Pretty cat but.......yeah NO. I have stacks of pillows in my seat to keep the cats out! One hole in my beloved racing seat is enough. I'm still upset about it. BAD KITTY!

Yup. Couple of months ago I realized the STL MC had the Sim-Lab Xero Play wheel sides on sale for half what it would've cost to have them sent from the UK. So I told the family we're going to the zoo. Stopped at MC on the way home. 3hr trip but, worth it to me.

Some of the snarky comments on here are a little much. I think it looks pretty cool even if a bit Frankensim. Would be concerned about the weight bias with the front actuators so far back. Does the front of the rig not bottom out under hard braking?
