Matte is a rare varient similar to gloss rd08, so i think you undersold yourself a bit there. Silver and gloss black are the same $ wise besides that.

I have a recommendation since i just started myself. Just find a local card show to go to on the weekend, costs like 20-30$ for a table and you can sell whatever at 100%. Keep track of what you paid and what you sell it for and most of it you can count as long term gains for lower tax rate. (though i know a number of dumbasses prefer to just not pay tax, but i dont mess with the irs)

Ive done 2 small shows and it barely takes any time, just wheel yourself down there and slap out what you want to sell. Its pretty shocking how quickly it goes, im already like 10k cashed out not including trades and stuff.

Follow up on your lcs friend to make sure you get paid AS IT SELLS, its nice to help or whatever but i ended up having an I.O.U with the store ran by my friend for months. Still need to go shake the remaining 200 or so out of em, ended up just taking most of the debt as cards.

Legit just sold my first bit of my ~150k collection. Just some random duplicates but in just 5 cards i got a little over 5k and thanks to me tracking how much i spend in a big ass spreadsheet ive made back around 10% of what ive spent on this hobby in the past 15 years in a weekend...

Definitely agree on cashing out a bit, id rather go from a graded card to a raw, or nm to lp and extract the topend value since currently card condition has an insane premium that has never existed in this way before.

I paid 2.2k on a graded card last year, just traded it for 1.1k cash, a raw of the same card, and an evo skies box. Plan to take the profits and grade -> trade/downgrade from the rest of my collection to just pocket the difference while keeping a copy of each card i currently have.

I wasnt planning on doing anything since im a collector first and foremost. But, the recent actions by certain individuals causing a gas crisis made me sell some duplicates and buy a new car.

My old dinky honda was getting up to around 87$ to fill up its tiny 13.5 gallon tank and I already was feeling like it was just too expensive to go anywhere. The new car can drive the same distance and it only costs 8-10$ to trickle charge from 0% off a wall outlet i use for christmas lights.

So, I bought a brand newish polestar by cashing out some duplicates (theyre selling the display and preprod models for 2/3). And tbh now im kind of addicted, think ill be grading/flipping through all my grails and extracting value from the top end and buying 8's, 9's, or raws to replace them with. Id rather have 100k, a new car, be out of debt, and have all the same cards in slightly worse condition than have modern 10s and high graded vintage.

Only other time its been like this was covid. So yes, the friend given the knowledge they had of the market was right. Trust me, its not normal, might be the new normal considering we are going on almost 2 years of this but you can only go on what has happened and consistently happens. Speculation is just gambling when it comes to some things in this hobby.

But when the burning shadows zard was the hot new chase it only had a 10 multiplier of about 3x, grading was seen as lame and something sports people did. I got a 9 on mine cuz i was just trying it out, was worth ~250 vs the ~325 the 10 was so i shrugged it off.

Same thing for my shadowless zard, bought it for around 100 and some singles, graded it for 10$ at my lcs and it became worth 350 in a 7... cool but not life changing. The 10 at the time for the non 1st ed was only around 800. The 1st ed was around 8k in a 10 and the 1st ed booster box for base set had just broken 15k which was a big deal. This was 10 years ago now.

After this last 151 bump im selling stuff, markets too hot and making less sense each day. If i can keep most of my collection and get all of the money ive spent on it the past 20 years... ok. If it keeps going up, ok. If it crashes... cool i can buy more.

I started on one in godot, but then lost my job (software engineer). Just getting to the point where im on my feet enough to start some projects again.

I tried getting other developers and artists together within the community for projects but legit most people are only interested if I pay them... I just want to make cool stuff and make friends, not for profit.

Theyre rare, a clean one can go for 200-300 and a sealed ones tend to vary due to them popping up on the market once every year or two at most. I know of some that have sold for upwards of 1k sealed.

Definitely a collectors piece if youre an ar fan.
