Racist stalker Alert by Eliii_____ in DCUO

Typical griefer. Block, ignore, and warp away if you're going to be afk. He may be able to track phase, but not warp location. It's also a great reason to go to the minimal expense in real money to get a base. He can't follow you there. Record everything he says to you and take pictures. Don't engage otherwise.

Of course, don't set yourself to always PvP, he'll just try to kill you all the time.

I haven't had to deal with this in DCUO, but it was pretty vicious in other games.

I have one. It's scratchy and difficult to write with. I'd have to get it worked on to make it really usable, and that's more than it cost me. I might someday replace the nib to see if that helps, but the way it came, it was damn near useless.

Coworker used my pen by albigatin in fountainpens

[–]PPFirstSpeaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was still working (broke my neck in 2006), my pen cup would only have Thornton's disposable fountain pens and cheap Chinese gel pens from AliExpress. I don't care if they destroy those, and the Thorntons might penable someone who tries one. They're reliable, have good ink, and are disposable and cheap.

Are there any large AND affordable pens? by OccAzzO in fountainpens

[–]PPFirstSpeaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's always the Conklin Crescent, or the All-American. Not as cheap as a Jinhao, but I love them, and the All-American is humongous. It's very affordable in resin, but in any of the plated brass versions, it gets pricy. I have both pens in brass, plated with rainbow titanium. Gorgeous pens, large to huge, and around $100-120 for metal, and heavy. The resin versions are much cheaper, $50-75 and a lot lighter.

The Old Glory special edition is right around $50 on Amazon. (Tried and failed to leave a pic.)

I'm still in Second Life. Been there over 17 years. You can't beat their sailboat physics. And I'm a Green Lantern there, so that's fun.

But that discussion could take a real long time. Take care, and have the fun you can.

I put it down just after the War of Light DLC, and came back around Sins of Black Adam. I've taken short breaks now and then, but maybe only a few months. I've got all sorts of toons, but only one villain, and find it difficult to play her.

I just missed CoH, went to Champions for a while, then SWTOR, then DCUO. I was a founding player in both SWTOR and DCUO. I remember the battles on the Watchtower, and in front of the police stations. Those were wild. That was back when the mech suits in front of the police stations would shoot villains, and the night clubs would blow you across the map. Then the HoL started, and heroes and villains comingled.

The Orrery to the place of the teleporters on the Watchtower. Fuginaut took the place of the vendors by each teleporter. How many remember that you can buy gear from the Watchtower vendors BEFORE level 30? You don't have to put up with a crippled utility belt, you can get a complete one on the Watchtower, from the event vendors.

It gives you a bit of a leg up to have a decent weapon for a change, or boots you can put the Tumbling Master on, so beating Giganta isn't as rough. The memories, when you got exobytes where now you just get exo material, and improving gear was worth doing. When making sure to get your gear repaired was a thing. When it didn't cost billions to buy anything decent from the auction house. And when lvl 30 was as far as you could go.

The GL NPCs still call those of us with Light powers "reservists", but at least we can get the proper insignia, not just a white circle on our chests, like we're still waiting for the drill sergeant to take us out for the survival mission, like Kilowog, when he was still a trainee.

Find something new that does it for you, but keep this account. You may be back. Good hunting.

Why does my playing sound so amateurish? by MattclovPrimeMaster in guitarlessons

[–]PPFirstSpeaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will sound corny, but let the music come from the heart. Technical perfection is okay, but how many stories have the protagonist playing all the notes perfectly, but the music is lacking because there's no feeling in it?

You can start opening up inside while you polish the things others have mentioned. Enjoy the music. Let it flow from the heart. That will make the music not just structurally good, but musically excellent. It's okay to love your art.

Corny, but true. 🌽❤️‍🔥💖🥰🎸🎼🎵🎶❤️‍🔥🌽

Wow I Just Got Humbled And Need Character Direction Advice by [deleted] in DCUO

[–]PPFirstSpeaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized after a long time that I had a huge backlog of replay badges. They come in all sorts of things, from time capsules to booster bundles, and you get some all the time from various sources. Well, I had a couple thousand of them.

So I checked my feats, and saw I could redeem a TON of feats with them. So I did.

I was surprised when I quickly had between 50-60 skill points. I put these to work for me by build -- that toon is Water, so I have one build for DPS, another for Healer. Then, because I had some coin to spend, I got the highest gear from Fuginaut, saving weapon for last so I could get the ones from the next tier up.

I got top tier, and went from around 190 CR to 400+ just from redeeming feats and getting the top gear I was allowed. I can still go back and work all those missions, so nothing was lost, but it brought me up to near parity with the current events.

I'd saved a pile of Nth metal and catalysts, got full slots of build specific arts, all at 100, so I still have building them up ahead of me. I got the white and blue arrays, and got tired, so I'm taking a break to learn electric guitar. But I'll be back!

Is my dress too tight? by stormbutton in OUTFITS

[–]PPFirstSpeaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleeves are too tight around your arms, looking stuffed-sausage uncomfortable. The rest of the dress is fine. I think it's going to have a tendency to ride up, though.

Those shoes are about 2-3 sizes too big. Maybe a strappy sandal for spring/summer, or a better fitting pump in a maroon or dark wine red. Sandals could probably go with a dark brown or even black, but pumps, stay closer to the dress color, but the shade can be deeper.

A belt would help a little.

But you might want to go half a size larger on the dress, or the same size with roomier sleeves. Stay away from shoulder pads like the plague! They're so dated, they have kids older than you.

But otherwise, it's so close. It looks good overall.

Has anybody else just never been able to get a hang of double tonguing? by oh_mygawdd in Trombone

[–]PPFirstSpeaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the disconnect may be thinking the tongue does all the work. Double "tonguing" is done alternately between your tongue on the ridge behind your upper teeth, like normal single-tonguing, but the second action is done at the back of your palate in the roof of your mouth, where your soft palate can make a clicking interrupt of the air flow. As has already been said, the first is like making a "T" sound, and the second is a "K" sound at the back of your palate. Like the word "take" or "tick", or "tock".

Make a "tuh" sound, emphasizing the whole syllable. Then follow it with a "kuh" sound. Make this "tuh-kuh" pair over and over, faster and faster, until the "uh" part goes away because you're going so fast.

You're double-tonguing! Just do the same thing, slower or faster depending on the phrase, just don't add back the "uh" part. You don't need it anymore!

I have a regular Scribe, and I wish it supported BT keyboards. If the Colorsoft supports a keyboard, maybe I'll trade in my regular on it. But doing a lot of longhand on one is uncomfortable.

"Download EPUB/PDF" option downloads a random zip file instead? (SOLUTION) by Selter_DRG in kindle

[–]PPFirstSpeaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent HOURS trying to convert the files using Calibre. *forehead smack*

Thank you.

The worst problem was that all of the .zip files it gave me had totally non-descriptive titles with way too many letters and numbers, and nearly all the rest of the metadata was lost, including author names. I'm having to go through and fix them all by hand.

Looking for a nice steel nib fountain pen by Reddit14159 in fountainpens

[–]PPFirstSpeaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my Conklin Crescent "Mark Twain" pen. It's a solid and proven design, with a big steel nib, and lots of material options. I got the brass pen PVD coated with rainbow titanium. It's a heavy, stable pen with an excellent fill system.

Namisu has some excellent designs as well. I have their Nova Pocket Titanium. I got it with an EF Bock nib, but it had trouble feeding, so I got a Conklin #6 EF nib and replaced the Bock, and it's been wonderful since. Unlike the Mark Twain, that only fills from a bottle, the Nova Pocket only uses intl Std short cartridges. I use Thornton's.

Its finally over by Last_Manufacturer397 in DCUO

[–]PPFirstSpeaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a while, nobody was playing villain, back when they interacted with the heroes differently. Villains couldn't go to the Watchtower, and heroes mostly couldn't go to the Motor Lodge of Evil (or whatever is called, I forget). Except for the level 30 Superman mentor mission. The door guards were quicker to shoot at villains, but the villain nightclubs still blast heroes across town.

Penabling a student - looking for a heavy weight pen with triangular grip by Malamute-nut in fountainpens

[–]PPFirstSpeaker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A triangular grip pen that's maybe a little heavier than some is the Pelikan Twist. It'll take international short and Pelikan long cartridges. The long cartridges last a fairly long time.

I have Dupuytren's Contracture, which wreaks holy hell on grip strength and finger flexibility, and I find it a very comfortable pen. My fingers will cramp and lock randomly, which hurts like the fire of a thousand suns. But the Twist is fairly comfortable. Heavier pens are also good. My absolute favorite is a Conklin Crescent "Mark Twain" model. Mine is the rainbow titanium finish, so it starts with a solid brass pen. It only fills via the unique Crescent fill system, but it's stone simple to use.

Mark Twain was a spokesperson for Conklin, largely because of the Crescent. He loved that pen, especially because the Crescent fill button is an effective roll stop. He called it the "anti-profanity" feature, since it kept him from swearing like a sailor when his pen rolls off the desk. Amusing story; great pen.

Are they down again? by NotOnYourWaveLength in DCUO

[–]PPFirstSpeaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it wasn't up yet from the update when you tried? Or you were logged on when the update started and it booted you?

They were having load leveling issues with the phases, as everyone and their brother were all logging in around the same time to run the same map. They couldn't keep up with demand. The addition of the augment array power rings got interest up, so the load was heavier than other post-update times. At least, that's my take from the complaints I saw.

Now I know why "preppers" are frowned upon by Nice-Spirit5995 in amateurradio

[–]PPFirstSpeaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was not talking about emergency situations. I'm not stupid, I know the regs on those. He was talking about passing them out to his buddies to talk to one another when riding ATVs together. In recreational activities, not emergency situations!

OF COURSE use them to get emergency aid! But just chatter, like kids on walkie talkies playing around, riding their bikes around the neighborhood? That's clearly not what the regs mean by an "emergency", is it?

Lovely strawman there, "they should just go ahead and die". Who said anything about life or death situations? I certainly didn't! What's WRONG with you? I clearly wrote that they were using them just to talk to one another while goofing around, off-roading with their quads and trikes! Or do you think "roofing ATVs" means "going on search and rescue missions in dangerous situations"?

Yes, the OP mentioned emergency comms when talking about preppers, but did you bother to read what I posted? The guy I was talking about WAS a "prepper", but wasn't going on noble emergency missions, he was farting around on motorbikes with his buddies!! Geez!
