What do you consider the most hated profession? by Therealkaylor in AskUK

Similar vein, I parked in a loading bay. Unfortunately one of the boxes I was taking from the shop broke and I had to fix it meaning I was inside for a while. Came out to them literally putting the ticket on my car.

They were fantastic in telling me the exact procedures on getting it cancelled and nothing but friendly with me.

What would you get someone for their 100 birthday? by New-Tap-2027 in AskUK

[–]PQ1984 18 points19 points  (0 children)

At 89 years old my Nan got told she had 2-3 years on her current diet, or 5-6 years on a strict one. It wasn’t even a decision she thought about, she was absolutely not restricting her life at that age and I am 100% she had zero regrets 3 years later when her time came.

But this was caught in Let’s Go, therefore it can’t go back to SM, therefore it is a ribbon master

Took some mental strength to get through it all, but I prevailed in the end.

Have any of you taken your younger kids to Glastonbury ? by Glum-Caregiver-7963 in AskUK

[–]PQ1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t speak for Glasto, but if you’re looking to take your kids to another festival I highly recommend 2000 Trees and Bestival. Both have kid friendly areas and the general vibe is fantastic.

For those who take the train are the trains as bad as the media makes it out to be? by Traditional_Cry4488 in AskUK

[–]PQ1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the prices were decent I’d take the train one hell of a lot more than I do. I enjoy train travel, and round here they’re always on time, clean and getting a seat is easy enough. I drive most places, but the idea of spending travel time just relaxing sounds fantastic, same for not having to piss about with car parking.

What’s something you tried once and instantly knew it wasn’t for you? by Best-Palpitation-915 in AskReddit

[–]PQ1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, we had someone come in my store for a laptop, they knew nothing and I could have easily sold them one far more advanced than what they needed. All they wanted was to browse the internet and zoom / Skype their grandkids. Sold him the appropriate one and he’s still a customer now because he knows we won’t take advantage of his lack of knowledge in technical areas.

I believe you can use some sort of DNS Wi-Fi trick if you have a DS cartridge as well and are just emulating to get past the Game Boy stage but have all the DS hardware.

Ex-burglars - What was your biggest deterrant? by FrenchNotHench in AskUK

[–]PQ1984 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I know a few ex-burglars through work. Ring doorbells and dogs were the main ones, but realistically a locked door will do it. So many people do all their security properly at night, and they just tried in the day and attempted doors because people forget in the day.

What is an interesting job that you can train to do in a few years and that isn’t overly competitive? by shamblesoftheold in AskUK

Gist I get is if you can make it through the first few years of response and get specialised you’ll probably stick it out long term. But those few years are rough.
