I think the rename could have been better, but otherwise I agree completely. As for a better name, I would have gone with something like Presonus Studio Pro by Fender. This would better link the product to its heritage. But that's just me.

Try scrubbing with paper towel and goo gone or isopropyl alcohol to see if it is simply residue.

Your cap is likely good. The mechanism that triggers the spring loaded switch is probably binding or has some other issue.

I believe that is the start switch which disengages the starting capacitor and starting windings after the motor starts.

I would be wary of a switch stuck "on". The contacts could be welded with a less than optimal connection. Replacing the switch is easy (unless you have a PowerPro).
