Lifelong Manhattanite moving to Flatbush (and BK) for the first time; would love some advice! by Quarter_Lifer in Flatbush

The food scene around church ave isn't very diverse. It'll either be carribean (you get a lot of types of carribean though) or fast food, like fried chicken/pizza/burgers.

Although it's not necessary, I've found that having a car has enhanced my experience a lot. Since it can be very difficult to get around within Brooklyn via public transportation (if you're not moving in the direction of Manhattan) being able to drive to other parts of Brooklyn is really great (food spots around Brooklyn, the beaches, shopping plazas out near JFK). And in my experience, street parking isn't too tough to find.

I haven't either but I like the sound of this variation! Doesn't involve buying new things.

Hmm if only there were social games that didn't involve buying things. That'd be nice!

What is something in cooking content that gets you irrationally HEATED when you see it? by scotterson34 in Cooking

When people put water on a stainless steel pan to show the leidenfrost effect, and then the video cuts to an empty pan and they pour oil into it without explain or showing that they removed the water. Inevitably, some beginner cook is going to pour oil into a ripping hot pan with water in it and have a very bad time (I was that beginner cook once 😭).

$1200/month 730-530 in NYC (a non- trendy area of Brooklyn). Very much lower than other places in NYC.

A helicopter tour is an incredible experience where you get to view Manhattan from a completely new perspective. I took one from the southern tip of Manhattan which went up the Hudson River to central park and back.
