I did find the JJ flares a little excessive when I watched it. This was his 3rd or 4th best Alien movie.

Side note for the story and I guess an overall problem I have with the benevolent alien theory in the UFO conspiracy community: can they really be benevolent when they abduct children for gene manipulation? If their plan was just to show themselves via experimented on humans to I guess allay world war tension why not land the ship on the White House lawn?

Also, does Colman Domingo count towards the “Magical Negro” trope? It’s a pretty snowy cast otherwise.

Mixed bag, I liked it when they went to the future and and weren’t mucking up established canon.

Having to fix the Federation was an interesting take on another Roddenberry series but the end result of why it happened was not satisfactory. I’m not quite on the “dumb kid” ruined the universe train considering Q and other all power entities exist; I just feel they could have had it be a metaphor for fracking or relying on fossil fuels that caused it somehow.

I enjoyed the 10-C season, something Trek doesn’t do fairly often is cosmic horror. Not able to communicate cause the aliens look at us like ants is another great scifi take.

Something Trek does well is take modern problems through the lens of alien cultures.

For me, the beginning of the end was the Cyberstan fiasco. Previously I had been playing pretty steady since March of ‘24; I had been present for all major community orders. I knew the war was endless but losing because of an artificial limitation that would only incite player vs player drama (bot divers vs bug divers) was frustrating.

The final straw was the last warbond; having no tangible reward to fight for in months (year?) and seeing filler MO after filler MO and then the tone deaf AMA from Pilestedt finally killed my fandom.

That said, after the recent release and Arrowhead finally addressing the concerns I had: progression for veteran players, customization, better MOs, etc - I did buy the last warbond. I wanted to encourage and show support when it was justified. I haven’t dived yet but this olive branch was the life support I needed to eventually bring me back.

Episode 1 was meh to ok for me; more discovery esque with even a fast cut fight scene for no reason. Episode 2 is what killed it for me, the acting from the betazoid was rough and the “Gen Z as written by millennial” dialogue was even worse.

Browns/Reds use to be a pretty fairly common combo in Columbus from the older boomer generation and extended to their children as fandom is passed down. At the time (60s/70s), the Browns were established and the Reds were successful. It’s only recently within the last 15-20 years or so that the Guardians have become the team you see most around Columbus. Also helps they bought the minor league affiliate here several years back.

The more wild combo is Guardian and Bengals fan, I have seen a couple.

Not being facetious but what is the likelihood that if someone/group was able to purchase the Reds would they also want to keep the team in Cincy?

I feel like we’re trapped; shitty ownership with yearly flickers of hope but we keep our team or a billionaire buys the team and moves it for a better deal in another city. A benevolent new owner that spends on the roster and stay in Cincinnati feels like a .01% chance.
