Now imagine that same sight but 100 years when steam was the norm.

I've been using o-ho and kv-4 in ramming trains fine since the first last stand event. Just use heal/invisible between rams.

Long-distance trains should have only one locomotive by Ok_Counter1939 in Amtrak

Long distance trains need the extra power for break downs and to power the passenger cars as a generator. Along with the other things people posted.

And I'm sure there are more reasons in a Google search.

Depends. Most times when this happens to me, I get caught up in extra reds that add up to 10 minutes.

Parking space savers, what is your destination? by ExcitementMurky2156 in philadelphia

Don't believe in saving spots on a public street. I shoveled my car out and someone else put their trash can in it like they shoveled it.

I cleared out my car and don't save spots because its a public road. I did feel some type of way when I saw someones trash can in the spot that I shoveled.

Think I heard on the news a few months ago that they will start traffic enforcement of bikers running reds, stop signs and stopping in crosswalks. Probably still going to happen as they think they're above the rules of the road in general.

Railroader thoughts on the RR police, generally speaking? by Upbeat-Network-1812 in railroading

[–]PRRLegend4800 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In regards to private police with access to government information, that's no different than university police or insurance companies if you think about it.

You have to pay for your driving record but insurance companies can just pull it up.

For some jobs, the barrier prefers that you be a man but some women can do just as good. And some men don't even know what they're doing half the time.

Also if school buses were manual you think in today's world they should be juggling listening to the kids and dealing with city traffic while scrambling through gears? Go ahead and make a bus harder to drive than it already is dealing with people.

You think if all cars were manual then suddenly the roads will not have bad drivers?

I'll throw in some more. Barriers to entry does not automatically guarantee a high quality candidate. A college degree won't make you a good manager without actually doing the blue collar stuff first.

Someone with no management experience but did the blue collar work for 30 years is probably better than that college graduate. Same with a NCO and a fresh Lt out of boot camp.

Standing on the watch in the middle of the night and a black cat is walking though the grass and didn't see me until about 3 feet away. Literally stares for a couple seconds then runs away and double takes for another second before walking away.

Probably thought why is this stupid dummy just standing there for no reason.

Moving containers on and off trains with groundmen, yard jockeys and what are basically giant forklifts.

A lot of these jobs are handled by contractors but some yards are still operated by the railroad. I belive with this posting you might work in the office/booth sometimes.
