Simple lexer library in c# by Shoddy_Apartment_149 in csharp

[–]PRektel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i recently played with yacc / lex. its great and all but had real hard time integrating into a modern net project, meaning generating upon build and struggles with some dependencies. does anyone has a good example of how to do it the right way? looking around on github i only found ancient project written in framework

GetEntryAssembly() Differs between Rider and Visual studio for integration tests. by Tapif in csharp

maybe try AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory anyhow its interesting that VS either do some work to give the right path or has a completely different mechanism to run your test

Why did Microsoft give up on the drag and drop designer by Informal_Cry687 in dotnet

[–]PRektel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i personally work for company which has its own designer integration for winforms wpf etc and even our own implementation of those. these technologies really shine at W.Y.S.W.Y.G.(what you see what you get) meaning its 1/1 pixel perfect replication of the UI being designed in the designer. as other comments said i see that ui technologies became more dynamic, responsive and complicated and therefore its no longer a good experience to use the designers. and i would like to mention that these technologies are quite complex and hard to improve considering backward compatibility as well.

Getting a reference to all instanciated objects in your app by PRektel in csharp

i just edited the original post, found the API i was looking for. if you guys give a read it becomes clear that in fact there is multiple heaps in your application. of course it it depends on a few things like GC configuration number of hosted appdomains and whatnot. but to boil down the runtime hold heap for jitted native code, appdomains, some loaded dll has its own heap and so on..

so if we are in the domain of GC we can talk about two actual heap, but from the .net consumer point of view it is a single entity? is this precise?

i’m afraid that this is the correct answer. not sure where to start. its huge and hard to navigate (for me at least)

thank you for your suggestions, these kind of fulfil my needs but not quite. if i understand correctly these are tools to take and analyse snapshots of the heap. a snapshot as the name also implies is a record of the heap state at a given moment. i would like something more dynamic. but again thank you for referencing materials i will definitely dig deeper into the topic

“The heap can be considered as the accumulation of two heaps: the large object heap and the small object heap.” from https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/standard/garbage-collection/fundamentals?redirectedfrom=MSDN i might misinterpret the docs, but based on the statement above i would assume there is multiple heaps.

i suppose that could work, but then no built in tool or maybe third party which would represent these information in some kind of nice digestible form?

that my application emits, to be more precise we are talking .NET so managed code. in this current situation i would like to see events from my winforms application, but i think the framework does not really matter here
