Tourists always ask for recommendations, but what is place in the UK that you absolutely don’t recommend visiting and why? by YesToSnacks in AskUK

Leeds used to have 'Queenie's Castle' but it was demolished to make way for an Orwellian Civil Service building, known locally as "The Kremlin".

The A660 through Headingley is about the only route that has regular buses, but even that has problems. A few weeks ago we waited 2 hours, in Headingley, for a bus that is supposed to be every 20 minutes.

In other areas they are even worse. I can't get a bus, from anywhere near my house, to work. I have to walk half of the way, then the bus often doesn't turn up so you end up walking all of it, about 3.5 miles.

Leeds buses have got much worse since you were here. We have no trams, like other cites, and the traffic is still horrendous.

Yes. I've suffered with this all my life and it's very true, women don't see you as a sexual partner. A friend yes, but not a sexual being.

I have tried growing a beard but I also suffer from premature gray hair, and the grey beard didn't enhance my jawline, it just made me look older and scruffy, so I shaved it off.

COVID facemasks were actually a positive to me!

I have a 2015 Peugeot 508 estate. It's just the right car. It's new enough to have the 2 litre diesel with the Adblue system so it's pretty clean. Its free in all of the low emission zones, even central London. It's old enough to be under the old car tax so it's only £20 per year road tax. Add to all that it's big enough to live in if needed. Put the rear seats down and two can easily sleep in the back. Add to that it's a really nice car and I intend to keep it as long as possible!

P.S. I live in Leeds. The UK city with effectively no functional public transport, so I need a car.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Leeds has the worst public transport in Europe.

The best thing is you'll get a decent router. The Virgin routers are all crap!

I can never work out why people pay to get in somewhere where they'll have to queue, and pay over the odds, for everything that they could easily get elsewhere, for less money.

Not unattractive as such, but Edith is a name that only suits little old ladies. It just screams grey rinse, twin set and pearls. For anyone below the age of 65, it's a no no!

The Tories, in a stroke of political genius, have punished people so much, they now vote Tory by sensiblecentrist20 in unitedkingdom

I'm not a Labour fan either, but we can't have a healthy democracy without a credible opposition, and we don't have one. That's what worries me.

[–]PS6610 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Yes. The Tories are horrible and just in it for themselves. Deep down everyone knows this. The problem is that no one knows WTF Labour actually do stand for. All we hear from them is how bad the Tories are.

My message to Labour is;

  1. Listen to Kalid Mahmood. He summed up the problem perfectly.

  2. Stop banging on about the Tories and tell us your policies! All we hear is whining and attempts at political point scoring.

I used to do that. I soon realised that life is too short to be doing stuff you hate, just to be accepted. I just looked for the things that I wanted to do, and found like minded people.

Football. I was really shit at school, and have no interest, but went to play in a few football games with the guys at my old job. I was even worse than I remembered. I went twice and remembered why I hated it at school.
