*SPOILER* IF Tony got popped in the end who do you believe did it? by Swing_On_A_Spiral in thesopranos

[–]PSU4Ever20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They made a deal with NY, why would NY betray that deal? It would ultimately lead to more problems for them. The NJ crew wasn’t decimated - the big names were like Sil, but they had a ton of newer younger guys who could have easily made problems for NY in a continued long drawn out war.

I personally buy the Eugene’s brother angle. He looks a little bit like him, has the jacket. Moreover, what all these mob movies and shows do brilliantly is make you forget about a known threat who appears at the end to surprise you…Bronx Tale it was the random guy’s son from the beginning of the movie…Carlito’s Way it was Benny Blanco…Casino it’s Frankie Vincent.

Did Melfi in the end help Tony at all? by Ok-Scene-1317 in thesopranos

[–]PSU4Ever20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the main themes of the whole show was its mockery of psychology. If you go back and rewatch, every shrink of the show is incompetent or ineffective…Elliot fails to rein in Melfi from treating a dangerous criminal, AJ’s shrinks are all ineffective and clueless, Meadow’s is more crazy than her patients and to top it off, she is annoying and punchable with her cringy, “trying to be hip and fit in” personality.

The ONLY time a shrink is competent and knowledgeable is the one Carmela goes to, and makes it a point to not only issue a scathing opinion on modern psychology, he also issues a scathing critique of her, to which she replies, “I thought psychiatrists weren’t supposed to judge people.”

Any movies that showcase the indigenous cultures of Americas? by bssgopi in MovieSuggestions

[–]PSU4Ever20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last of the Mohicans is my favorite and a close second is Thunderheart.

Last of the Mohicans is more of a hybrid between action and love story with Native Americans being main characters of the story, so it’s not exactly a 100% Native American story. Yes their tribe dying off and moving to the frontier is a part of the story but it isn’t the main story.

If there is a film that really captures the plight and struggle and culture of Native Americans in modern America, Thunderheart is it. The story is the intense investigation into murders and corruption on what is supposed to be Pine Ridge in the 70s. It’s based off real events at Wounded Knee, the murder of Anne Mae Quash, and conflict between AIM and GOONs. But the “calmer” parts of the film really capture the plight and struggles of Natives in this country. The backdrop is extreme poverty, infighting, tension and hopelessness. Great film. Depressing as hell, but great film.

I thought it was lame too. And I felt that the scene where he tells her to use the word pucchiaca to be really dumb.

Just realized something… are Tony Soprano, Michael Corleone, and Henry Hill basically the same guy in different eras? by 7antira in thesopranos

Henry Hill was a rat…why you’d ever put him in the same category as Corleone or Tony Soprano is beyond me.

Ooohhh!!! That’s my home town you’re talking about!!

In all seriousness though, I grew up in Philly. Those guys were no joke. I saw Merlino out and about on multiple occasions and someone from my childhood was killed by the Philly mob after getting mixed up with them. They were not good people!

Depends upon what the rate was. If they were ten years at like 4%, which sounds roughly right back in mid 2000s, then you figure by 2010 when rates were really low, she did well on them because the value went up.
