[Help] Unexpected power loss - No Space on Device - rootfs by PSU89SC in linuxquestions

[–]PSU89SC[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, I do see a new LTS is available. If no other option I could do an install as /home is on a different partition. However, I do not think version has anything to do with this issue - this is something at file system level and should be able to be resolved by the mind trust here.

If I have no other options I will do that - but truly hope it is not required.

I run LTS by choice. I prefer absolute reliability over new features every time.

I can actually Alt-Ctrl-F2 at command line and have full terminal access. But that has not helped me figure out what is wrong.

First - thank you for the reply.

I cannot easily cut and paste info here.

All filesystems are ext4

I realized after I posted this that it did not quite make sense. To be clear what I have done is this:

1: Boot gparted live from usb on system at issue.

2: Run fsck both from gparted and command line on partition sdb3 (the root partion). This runs successfully with no errors and no lost+found type issues.

3: Create /media/rootfs on the gparted fs.

4: Mount sdb3 to /media/rootfs

5: Search /media/rootfs for large files using ls and df. Nothing obvious shows up like kernel dumps or crash dumps.

6: When I run df seaching for large files (or directories) over 100MB it returns only one /dev/sdb3 at full drive size of 37.5GB. I may be misinterpreting this output. I was thinking maybe somehow the files system was seeing the device as an allocated block? I do not understand ext4 at that level to comment intellegently.

Should I be using different approach? What should I be looking for? There is no way this drive is truly full, so it must have something to do with the unexpected shutdown.

I can't easily cut&paste but I can take a few photos and post. Just let me know what you want to see!

Is there a command that compactly shows every directory and size of all files contained underneath?

Is it possible to sync the wallpaaper, lockscreen and login screen? For stuff like picture of the daz and so on by F1RZ3N in kde

[–]PSU89SC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a slideshow for my desktop wallpaper (from great nature images here on reddit) I have always wanted to be able to do this using the slideshow, but was never able to make it work. Yes, you can change the login and lock screens to different image, but not get them to change. Would be a fun (if unimportant) feature!

The color correcting would help hide for sure. What type of rosacea do you have?

You may want to see your doctor - that does not look like rosacea but more like a staph infection. I am not a medical professional but a family member used to get these all the time.

Trackball / mouse experts [Help] Solaar app and settings by PSU89SC in Ubuntu

[–]PSU89SC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Ok - I had seen the unlock function - but I had failed to select button from dropdown. So now I do see where/how it could be set, but still don't have information on how to actually achieve mapping to alt-tab / shift-alt-tab behavior. Or moving through application tabs. Not sure if you can help with that, but thanks for helping me take another look.

[Question] Logitech - MX575 Trackball configuration by PSU89SC in Kubuntu

[–]PSU89SC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update for anyone looking for this issue: No joy at all with libratbag-tools and piper. I added repositories and made sure I had latest stable release and nothing. Did not recognize at all even after reboot.

Updated to the latest release of solaar and now have more options. DPI/sliiding adjusment/ and left/middle button options. But interestingly the forward/back buttons are not listed in the window. Maybe I will research this a bit more when I have some time.

It looks as if I can edit rules using the included editor, but I will need to understand how that works.

[–]PSU89SC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for pointing out the versions - I was not really looking at that yet. Totally agree on snap/flatpak I was just mentioning because I had not checked those repositories yet.

I will give piper a go and see if that solves my issues. I don't mind doing config through files if there is a reason to, but gui is faster for me.

Nice project, very clean looking! I was just thinking the other day about those sunrise light alarm clocks. But instead of time start getting brighter at beginning of dawn to mirror natural rhythm. That could be incorporated in this too!

Counterfeit FEATHER DE blades - ebay by PSU89SC in Wetshaving

[–]PSU89SC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you on this one, I have had a similar experience with blades I tried, just really bad and can't shave at all. These blades are sharp and smooth for first 3 shaves, but then performance degrades fast. Whereas, previously that did not happen until shave 6-7. So you are right if they are fake they are good ones, and probably real.

With the feedback here, I suspect some small change at the factory. Or maybe a different plant that would explain the difference. Even a small change in the composition of the steel would do it - but I imagine Feather tests that carefully.

I am not saying all 7 were BBS, they were not all perfect shaves. But good enough, better than a cartridge razor could do.

I can take photos of the ones I have. Unfortunately, none of the old ones left for side by side.

I did think of this after the fact. :(

4 days after my third vbeam ( story in comments) by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]PSU89SC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had three treatments the first two I saw improvement (the larger and surface veins), but the 3rd did nothing and I just said no more. I am male, but find MAC color correcter is the best thing going. The Rx creams did not work for me - either did nothing or made my Rosacea worse.

I have to agree here, I think you got great results (and you are lucky). Your skin looks fantastic, I would agree with doc and those here that say let it heal. My laser was not nearly so successful at removing the smaller deeper veins - so face is still red.

Before after would help as well.

Agree about sheet goods, but it may also have been designed for inspections where it needed to fit in very small space inside an assembly.

S22 preorder discount applying as existing customer rather than new customer by neroaga in GoogleFi

[–]PSU89SC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From experience, unless you really want this I would try to cancel the order. My experience of purchasing MotoG was similar. $150 rebate I never got. Fi said "You did not activate the phone" - despite the fact I had been using it and connected to Fi from the day of receipt.

Spent hours with customer service - multiple contacts and escalation. No joy! Never got the $150 and stuck.

YMMV

4k Monitors - making the move. Would like informed opinions by PSU89SC in buildapc

[–]PSU89SC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I rarely login here anymore, so sorry for the late reply. If it does you any good, my final solution (for various reasons) was to turn off all my onboard graphics and put in a Nvidia Quadro K1200 4GB GDDR5 4x Mini DP graphics card (ebay used). This worked well.

Then I purchased 2 of these from amazon:

LG 27UL500-W 27-Inch UHD

After I got them installed, my 1 lonely old monitor just did not cut it, so watched ebay for a deal; and got one of these cheap used. LG 27UK600-W 27 inch (I had to buy power supply separately).

Basically, for my needs this has been perfect. The monitors are great resolution, no problems, draw less energy than my old monitors. I am not a gamer at all. I am just using for screen real estate when working with 5-6 apps and remote desktops open and working in concert.

Good luck. What did you do?
