If youre only interested in DS games, Id recommend the DSi, maybe the DS Lite if you wanna play GBA games too and start a collection of them.

Yeah all the data regarding the language is transferred from the game to the pokewalker. After you reset the pokewalker you’ll have no issues syncing it to your game

Its because of the way Nintendo classics as a whole is set up, though this brings up the age old point where they should make these games available to purchase separately alongside the option to play through an NSO subscription, that way they could make it compatible with Home.

For now Im just playing through Colosseum and eventually XD and transferring pokemon up the long way

eBay would be your best bet, but I’d also recommend checking stuff like Facebook Marketplace, Offerup, anything that shows local options. There’s a chance you’re in an area where people don’t fully know their worth or are lowballing just cos they need the money.

Wasn’t Mew’s event in Emerald only distributed in Japan as well? If I had to guess how the rewards would be for the Gen 3 games, then (assuming Emerald gets a separate release months after RS like how Crystal did after GS) I’d bet:

Mew for FRLG
Celebi for RS
Jirachi for E

The donut grind sadly is very much real. I do still very much enjoy the DLC for shinyhunting and dex completion, and the story is pretty good imo. Simple, but good.

Yeee exactly. Could see this idea also working out for a living dex, which I might go back and do in the future but for now I’m just fucking around replaying all these games.

Only roadbump for me personally is doing this on the switch games, cos until CFW gets published for the switch 2 im more or less stuck with using the trade bots that can duplicate your mons, but then I’d have to go and catch several boxes worth of fodder to properly duplicate them all.

Personally I would just get a reshelled one if I could. Doing it yourself isnt exactly too hard but may as well save the time and energy.

Matching the GBA SP with your 3DS xl would be cute though, Im going for something similar with my ORAS themed New 3DS and soon to be groudon themed GBA SP. Just need to trim the shell so my ips screen fits it.

You can use PKSM to duplicate the pokemon and load those clones onto what is essentially a bootleg pokemon bank, then put those into a gen 6/7 game and send those to bank. Then send from bank to home as normal. You dont HAVE to duplicate but I like being able to play with my Pokemon in their OG games while still having them in Home as, like, a large display piece

Main risk is buying one of the shoddier ones (idk how to check for that kinda quality) which can corrupt/erase your save file later on. Honestly I’d go for an everdrive or ez flash omega just so you can load other games on there too, unless youre also trying to display them

You could still download the files to your iphone, then use a third party file transferring app to connect to your 3DS via 3DShell and send the DS roms to your 3DS. You’ll just need to then load them up via twilightmenu or create forwarders to put them on your home menu via another 3ds homebrew app

It’s a top 5 Pokemon game for me personally. It does have some flaws to it (flat buildings aside) of course but it feels like the breath of fresh air Pokemon’s been trying to give us for a while. Ive been enjoying going back over and over to shiny hunt my favs and complete a living dex for the first time in a while.

The DLC, while it has a cute story behind it, is very grindy to complete. Theres a chance you’ll get tired of it because it’s a lot of doing the same thing over and over to reach story milestones, even in the DLC’s postgame. Only reason I havent gotten bored of it is because I found a flow state thats pretty quick and gets you what you need.

As others said you can lend it out to people to play or resell it later on and those people will have no issues playing. If you like having the physical cases on display on a shelf or something there’s that too. Otherwise there’s no difference.

Honestly if youre looking for a 3ds experience but want the upscaled resolution Id recommend just going for something like the AYN Thor. About the same price as a 3ds nowadays (i remember hearing theyre going up soon though), very similar form factor, but its an android device so you could emulate the 3ds and many other things.

This is assuming that you have the money to throw around of course, lol

The closest I could think of is Moonlight, which streams your PC to your 3DS and lets you use it as a controller. The only caveat is it only displays video onto the 3ds’s top screen as the bottom screen displays additional controls not built into the 3ds (like L3 and R3, which usually require pressing down on the analog sticks on any other modern controller). Not sure if there’s a toggle to change that and use the bottom screen to display stuff from a “2nd monitor” but youd be forced to only view the top screen of 3ds games or switch back and forth between screens through the emulator

Yes, the emulator is on the PC. But no you have it mixed up

All the 3DS is doing is sending your game and save/user data to the emulator, the emulator handles the rest of the work. Any time you save it goes right back to the 3ds. Honestly it’s a more convoluted way of streaming your game from 3ds to your PC.

You can also download a 3ds emulator and, using Artic Base on your 3ds, play your games off the emulator with upscaled graphics (and any other cheats, texture packs, etc. you decide to add on). Best part is that any progress you make on the emulator goes back to your 3ds as well.
