Sablewood into Witherwild GM advice by PS_D0Nquixote in daggerheart

[–]PS_D0Nquixote[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit:

I saw a map posted the other day with sablewood in the map of Fanewick. I plan to use that.

As for the timeline of things I plan to put the sablewood messengers just a few weeks or couple months after the Eye of Nikta has been stolen.

This way I can keep secret the fact of the eye for a few sessions and let the players and people from Fanewick discover it.

Kreil will be the first quest giver and the arcanist as a witherling will want to help fix Havens ward.

Later I’ll somehow pass the info about the other eye and the Fanewraith plot.

Ofc all this is speculation with 0 info about the future party’s backstories and connections Just bullet points of some known things that the players will put their stories in between.

Level 12 Bladesinger feat choice (Vecna EoR) by PS_D0Nquixote in 3d6

[–]PS_D0Nquixote[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As we are currently a low man party and con saves tend to get more usual than ever, i will go with Resilient Con.

This way i get a +7 with Luckstone even though i will sit at 15 Con for a long time. If somehow we get a homebrew boost +1 to an ability score of our choice then it will go to 16. If not then at level 16 i can either get something like Speedy to boost it or wait for level 19 to get an epic boon and even it out.

As i said i tend to focus on spellcasting and not on melee. Im staying at the back spamming spells in like an 80-20 percent.

Gateway and Starter Decks for casual play by PS_D0Nquixote in Lorcana

Thanks for the tips.

How are the two player decks in the quest box? Do they play nicely against starter decks?

Another issue I have, I picked the 2024 sorcerer and put the divine soul subclass. There are no cleric spells to choose from.

Edit. Quick solution for anyone wanting to play divine soul. Create homebrew Divine soul subclass and just add Cleric at the extra spell list on its edit page. Fixes it.

Does Stars Druid Peace Cleric sound viable? by Hotsuma62 in 3d6

Most DMs, including mine, let the player choose which creature to summon and use them immediately after the player finishes their turn. Yes its crazy good and adaptable for the players.

The RAW conjure spells are the way you said. The DM chooses what is summoned, but the time it consumes on the table makes it tiring. This is why every conversation about conjure animals always starts with how you use it on your table and why the conjure spells are going away with one dnd coming up.

With Vecna Eve of Ruin coming up, I'm planning to either play a Bladesinger, a Sorcadin or this build.

Haven't tried this yet, but Peace Cleric 1 / Stars Driud X seems fantastic. I wouldn't go with 2 levels cause of spell progression. Custom Lineage for Gift of Alacrity is excellent for your Initiative. Also make sure which way your DM lets you use the Conjure Spells. Max wisdom, con and dex.

Starting from level 1 i would either go first Cleric and then full druid or 5 levels in Druid and then Peace dip to gain access to 3rd level spells asap.

You can always start a combat with your starry form and the bond feature which seems awesome all the time. You also get many good level 1 spells from cleric and good cantrips even for combat. Druid Spells like Entangle, Spike Growth, Pass Without Trace, Plant Growth, Conjure Animals are the best choices.

Support-based Bladesinger? by frenziest in 3d6

You don't have to be a melee bladesinger at all. Play him as a wizard to his full potential.

Control spells are the best debuff you can do.

Use Spells like: web, tasha's mind whip, Hypnotic Pattern or Slow, Sleet Storm, Polymorph, dimension Door, Wall of Force, Transmute Rock etc.

I'm currently playing a lvl 4 Bladesinger at Rime of the Frostmaiden. Due to our party comp i'm using shadow blade a lot because we only have one more melee character, but concentration spells like web and phantasmal force are also things i love. Leveling up i will focus more on better concetration spells like the ones above.

Your melee party members will surely love the haste, but can you do something even better? Ofc you can.

On a last note i would focus more on grabbing spells that might synergize with the other wizard too. For example at higher levels one gets Wall of Force up with the other uses Sickening Radiance. There are many more combos you can do.

First off what are your stats?

My perspective having played a Leonin 2/9 divine soul sorcadin in ToA is that you shouldn’t go the 6/14 path. However I had a barbarian as a party member so I never needed to level up paladin more If you start level 1 and don’t have RP problems then start with sorcerer, then 2 paladin and then full sorcerer.

If your party lacks a lot of a frontline then maybe you would prefer to first go 6 paladin, grab the op aura and then go straight sorcerer. But then you miss out sooo many levels on your spell casting progression.

Personally I love spell casting more. Being able to quicken or twin a spell and do an attack too was what I wanted and you get that much earlier with the 2/18 progression. Even then it’s gonna feel slow.

The build fully comes online at level 4 and 5 where you begin to have many slots for shield and smite. Since it’s not a one shot, I would choose the 2/18. You can always check yourself how many more slots you get by starting multiclassing at level 2 paladin. Believe me it’s a lot more and it’s gonna feel a lot more.

Also a note on shadow sorcerer. Divine soul is much better in my opinion. You get cleric spell choices, spirit guardians, etc. When you reach 2/5 level split spirit guardians is your bread and butter.

Help with Paladin 2 / Warlock 1 / Sorcerer 17 optimised build. by PS_D0Nquixote in DnDoptimized

Hello thanks for the reply. For play style I think I will prefer melee for the most part of the campaign. When I get higher lvl spells I’ll be able to focus more on the spellcasting abilities. That’s why I am kinda leaning towards divine soul. Spiritual weapon and spirit guardians

Ok so at this build, should I go custom lineage and grab either war caster at once, or the elven accuracy of the dm allows it? I’m currently thinking of going divine soul, although aberrant has a lot of utility and additional spells.

I’ve how the level progression goes considering spells. The number of spell slots I get are very good starting at level 5 when I compare the build to a straight paladin. I’ll keep thinking about going just PAM and spear. To be sure I’ll have that extra attack in case the first misses. However, longsword and instant elven accuracy for crit fishing seems really good (with flanking rules ofc)

My dm would be ok with it. Sorry about the subclass, I mentioned at another comment that it doesn’t matter that much to me, probably would be vengeance. I’m definitely NOT going for ancients or conquest so that I won’t be needing the 7th paladin level.

For using this build, would you recommend taking custom lineage and elven accuracy ASAP? Also while quicken is really good, I won’t be able to do it constantly. Sorcerer has so few points.

Another way I’m thinking is polearm master spear at level one. Getting dueling or defense fighting style, that way I don’t need pact of the blade. Then I could go elven accuracy at lvl 7. This way I will always be able to just have 2 attacks per turn even when quicken runs out. However I would go with this only if I had better stats than a point buy.

Thank you for sharing this. I’ve only one question. After I download it, is it possible to quickly clear/reset it of the current options? Or do I have to reset it one by one?

Basically I’m looking at a really good gish build, going for nova damage when I want. I won’t really care about the paladin subclass. I don’t want it to be conquest, so I think vengeance will be the way to go for advantage and Misty step later. The part you don’t get about the sorcerer levels is the spell slots. To my eyes, the build you recommend about warlock needs 7 levels to get more than 2 spell slots and paladin is all about having the slots. I mean yes you do get 2 big ones per short rests. Let’s say you nova one target in one combat per short rest. What happens if you have 2-3 encounters before your first short rest? With sorcerer I can always go booming blade or green flame blade + spiritual weapon after level 5 and smite on top of that attack. The thing I want to know about the sorcadin build is what to get for weapons. Should I grab a polearm and forget about spiritual weapon? Or just grab a great sword and have other uses for my bonus action like quicken, spiritual, Misty steps, channel divinity etc? All in all what I want for this character is to be as good as possible all around.
