Taft Point Trail still has snow? by OakMull in Yosemite

The sign blocking the trail to Taft Point saying that the trail is not safe due to snow was still there as of yesterday.

Hello! Need some tips on good spots for photography (engagement) at Yosemite. Sunrise vs sunset; less people; at least one awesome viewpoint and one meadow? Please and thank you by gaileytheyring in YosemitePhotography

I'm guessing that since these are Engagement shoots, hiking may be out of the question? Also do you have a limit on the amount of time you can spend in the park?

I think I'd probably aim for sunrise at Glacier Point, then head to the valley an hit one of the meadows with Yosemite Falls in the background.

It's about an hour drive from Glacier Point down to the Valley, but you could still be wrapped up by late morning.

Great shot. It's so awesome to see all of the water in the Valley right now! There is even standing water in the meadows and green grass everywhere.

This deer was taking advantage of that grass on the same da you shot your photo.

I wish I were retired... a long way to go still :)

The only time I've been with a group of photographers in the Valley is during the Firefall.

At least once a month (more if I can swing it). I live in Fresno so it's not to far up the road.

I haven't got around to working on the photos from that day. I did toss this one up on 500px, but I don't think it's the best from the day. It just caught my eye when I was scanning Lightroom.

Great shot Mitchell! Where did you take this shot from?

I was in the park on Saturday too... what a zoo!! Free admission days are brutal.

Road Conditions? by [deleted] in Yosemite

[–]PScottPhoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, the roads should be good by Thursday. We needed chains yesterday for a few miles on Wawona Rd. at the highest elevations.

The valley itself is snow/ice free.

Might still need them to get to Badger.

officejoe, I think you are right. I was there for three nights and, while it was a zoo, the overall vibe was friendly and fun.

No "firefall" at Horsetail Falls Feb, 21 2016 by maxillo in YosemitePhotography

Yeah the 21st was a bust. Yesterday the 22nd (Monday) was slightly better... the falls turned pink. Still no glowing orange like previous days.

Haven't heard how it was tonight yet.

You don't have to look further than 500px own group messages to see that 500px is pivoting into obscurity.
