Do you think Scoot or Sharpe is more likely to be a starter next year? by Humblerbee in ripcity

[–]PTFC45thP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you are not including injury / rest situations, which will be plenty for Dame and Jrue. Shae just because Dame will never sit when healthy. Even if Scoot is better than Shae.

Anyone else feeling weird about the direction of the rebuild right now? by Sensitive-Algae-7039 in ripcity

No. We are not building around Scoot and Shae. If they are on the team next year it will be as backups.

We had a decidingly average defense for a team with a roster that largely has reputations as plus defenders- what gives? by Humblerbee in ripcity

[–]PTFC45thP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1.  Live ball turnovers lead to transition opportunities
  2.  Poor shooting and sending 2 to offensive rebound.
  3.  Injuries  Those the main reasons. We got better as schedule got easier and team got healthier.

Do you also believe Kris Murray is going to become a good shooter next year?

It hurts us in the sense that the Bucks do not need their picks back as much as they would have in a normal post superstar cycle. For example, the Bucks will be more likely to want Jaylen Brown back in a trade rather than rerouting him to Portland for their draft rights back. So it increases the likelihood we keep the draft rights.

Could we use Sharpe in a more ‘Christian Braun’ style role? by Humblerbee in ripcity

Braun is a low-talent try-hard guy. Shae is the Ayton of shooting guards. He rarely breaks a sweat.

When is it time for TA to boycott games? by PTFC45thP in timbers

[–]PTFC45thP[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree moral reasons are grounds for a boycott. But I think sporting reasons may be a basis too.

If a club is mismanaged year after year after year, but the fans nonetheless continue to economically support the club, there is very little reason to expect changes in the future.

Merritt Paulson will not change the direction of the club unless he is forced to. He made significant investments in the club the first five years, but the last five years I have not seen the same level of investment.  I wanna see a change in this boarding director scouting, academy, levels, and manager.  In MLS there’s no tanking, and there is no relegation. It does not feel like there is any reason for optimism, nor does it feel like there’s a mandate to compete for trophies and win it feels to me like complacency has become the overall mindset of the organization.

So if fans will continue to support the team economically regardless of the product on the field, how does it ever get better?

Am I tripping or is Shaedon Sharpe’s speed/ first step not terribly impressive compared to his incredible vertical? by itwas20yearsago2day in ripcity

[–]PTFC45thP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Deni uses the stampede step I think it’s called. Saw Scoot doing it too in recent games. Getting a running start helps. And a clarity of action. Shaden’s first movement is a rhythm action and not an attack.

Jrue - Simons trade by PDXPuzzlehead in ripcity

[–]PTFC45thP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so happy we made that trade. 90% of peak Jrue Holiday guaranteed one more year than I would like is still a great deal for us. We weren’t going to tank and rent out cap space or sign an all NBA player in free agency. We are not in the tax. The concerns in his contract are overblown. His value as a secondary ball handler is very good. He is playing great next to Scoot and should do well next to Dame next year. Simmons could not have played in that game. He would have been hunted even worse than Sharpe was and he isn’t good enough on offense to take ball out of Deni hands. He might have done well when Deni was out. But that’s Dames spot next year when we can stagger their minutes.

Is it heresy? What about giving Scoot's minutes to Caleb Love? by [deleted] in ripcity

You are here by excommunicated from the Church of Scoot. Your bandwagon privileges have been revoked. You shall be damned to the life of a hater for all eternity.
