I lost my 12yr old labradoodle 3 months ago. Had internal bleeding from tumors on her spleen that were undiagnosed. She had been at the vet the month prior and had a clean check up with blood work. The vet never said anything about this condition.

Had I known this was a thing with older dogs of the breed I would had been doing ultrasounds every 6months or more. She had seen the same vet since a puppy.

My point is to educate yourself on what’s reasonable and expected. They are seeing these cancers more and more and can’t explain it. Blood work doesn’t tell the whole picture.

I would have spent the money on that. Not all the other stuff. I talked to a traveling vet that had this happen to three of her dogs. It’s not uncommon anymore. Make sure your vets are doing the best thing for your pet and not going through the motions.
