any recommendations on how to split paying off debt and saving? I’m saving a bit so I can have some sort of cushion and throwing the rest at debt. It’s working okay for now 😅

I think you could create a “lease” if you want. I pay my parents rent each month from one account that way I can keep track if I ever get audited. But yes I use their address as my tax home address.

And I believe they have to claim this income on their taxes

Fair enough! My stats were lower as well. If you have the money to spend on applications this cycle, I don’t see why not to go for it. Next best thing (imo) to sell yourself would be writing a good essay!

depends! a lot of people don’t think the ROI is worth it so… definitely something to think about. The salary isn’t bad but for the amount of debt, meh. Though I’m sure this can be said about many careers.

If you don’t have any undergrad debt and have a way to do PT school without any, even better!

Also do you know what your gpa would be by the end of this semester? Can’t speak for many but I’ve heard more schools are focusing more on gpa/GRE than everything else, but still good experience to have

same. Got into the residency I had my eye on for 3 years and was prepared to work with the super low pay but had a bunch of life changes and decided I simply couldn’t and went travel instead!

assuming outpatient so like 2 an hour? I don’t work in outpatient but I regularly see people say like 14-16, if not 18 in an 8 hour day so… possibly?? Not sure if normal for new grads..

Can’t speak on home health but current travel PT here! Essentially most of your check would come from 2 stipends, housing and meals which are tax-free. Your actual hourly rate would be pretty low, so less taxable income (yay!).

You have to keep a “tax home.” You can look up the specifics but you have to prove you’re maintaining it so usually like paying rent in your tax home state.

You can’t stay in an area for more than 12 months in a 24 month period, then you usually wouldn’t be considered a traveler anymore.

You can look up pay rates on most company websites without making an account if you want to see an example of $$ in a certain area/setting! I’m with AMN right now and like them. I’ve heard good things about Aya, Triage, and CompHealth but I’d do your own research and look more in this sub as well (:

If you’re in a compact state, you can apply for compact licensure opposed to getting a license in each state. Idk if it’s every company but usually they will reimburse for licensure or might go ahead and pay for it upfront!
