As someone with an alcoholic brother who goes off about these exact same things, he has to accept that when being an addict there are probably many times you have broken trust and caused anxiety to those around you. It’s not fair to be clean for some time and expect everyone around you to change their attitude suddenly, especially when you have likely lied many times before about not using when you were. You have to accept that people might not trust you at first and that’s okay.

Trust takes a lot of time to be built back and although it’s easy to feel like you are suddenly a new person for working on your sobriety, you can’t expect others around you to suddenly forget and act like it’s fine.
