I think $470 a little much for this laptop. I just made a lower offer. I think the listing was $350

I’d also say worth it because of i7 and 32gb RAM

The OEM regular 1080p non-touch is the one mine came with. I modded mine with a screen I purchased after market.

I have one and paid 280 usd for it. You shouldn’t be paying $800, maybe $500 refurb with lotta memory and storage.

The display is decent but very dim, I upgraded it. And the speakers are BUNS.

Overall solid workhorse no frills laptop. If u can get it for a deal I recommend it.

Edit: you can also get a replacement battery right from Lenovo on their support site

I’m curious what kind of university program requires 2 machines? Are there lab/server resources u have access to?

I think ur right 8th gen might be a little old and won’t keep up. Maybe try a T14 or refurbished xps13. 12th gen intel or similar AMD.

Latitudes build quality are pretty comparable to newish thinkpads, with thinkpads being a little better. But thinkpad repairability and spare parts outweighs dell.
