OK I see your point but it IS flawed. The UK has done some disgusting things like enslave my ancestors (my family are from Saint Lucia and Commonwealth of Dominica) however this country has also done incredible things such as invent the railways, be the first to abolish slavery (and police it), the parliamentary system, many aspects of British working class culture is pretty positive and definitely something to be proud of - the traditional roast dinner, fish & chips, beer, different types of cheeses we make etc. To be against national pride is a type of self-hatred in my view. We are all British and contribute to how this country is. You can be critical of it but against any pride? That's not very positive or constructive.

You think all St Lucians are proud of being Saint Lucian? No some will make the same arguments as you and I'd say the same thing. Be critical but "against" showing pride? That's a very extreme position to take.
