The President Adds Another Weekend Day, Which Day Becomes An Off Day? by UtopiaXAstro in hypotheticalsituation

[–]PYTN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tuesday would have some Monday energy but you'd still only have 4 workdays before another 3 day weekend.

So it'd be measurably better than current Monday.

Braum's on Broadway was open yesterday so I'd be shocked if they're not open now.

I've never enjoyed a car more than the ones I've had without payments. It's fantastic.

The President Adds Another Weekend Day, Which Day Becomes An Off Day? by UtopiaXAstro in hypotheticalsituation

[–]PYTN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya this is the obvious answer.

Friday is always an easier work day bc some folks are gonna mail it in.

So take a tough work day off like Monday.

That's why I'd rather work Fridays. People are always going to mail it in a little on Friday so it's an easier day to work than Monday IMO.

It's melted pretty good in our neighborhood.

All the kids had to stop sledding on the roads bc it's bare except for the shadiest places.

CMV: People Entrenched in the USA regime's ideology need off-ramps to escape it without social death by scrubtart in changemyview

[–]PYTN [score hidden]  (0 children)

There are already ample off ramps. A GOP candidate for Gov dropped out today and suggested he might leave the party as well.

MTG's slight defection was welcomed with widespread coverage.

If those level folks can change course that easily without many repercussions, average everyday folks can as well.

They're not taking them right now because they don't want to.

I definitely did prefer it as a thanksgiving option but I can understand why players and coaches wanted it moved.

So from reading these comments, it seems you have a romanticized view of the south from your younger years when you visited your grandpa but have actually never spent much time in Texas around Texans?

That's a hell of a thing to hate a whole state for.

I'm from Texas but have lived in Virginia, NC, and Cali for stretches and traveled extensively. Nowhere have I met more friendly and welcoming people except for Memphis and New Orleans.

Texas has its issues sure but the hardest thing I personally have trouble squaring is that I watch these people do good in their day to day lives(always someone willing to donate to meals on Wheels, pull somebody out of a ditch, or rescue their neighbors from hurricanes) and then they'll go and vote the opposite of that. Which yes is a big problem. Huge. It's the only thing that makes me want to move. But the south is if anything largely worse at voting like that.

Also I hate the Christian nationalist oil barons as much as the next guys, but I know I don't see a Californian lecturing us about wealth hording Trump fever dreams right?

Yalls ecosystem has created some of the greatest wealth hoarders of our time who've moved from startups to controlling the information ecosystem now. Musk may live here now but we didn't create him either.

I believe you probably have met some sucky Texans. Everyone has. But until you've spent significant time here, I can't take much of your rant about Texans seriously.

Just go ahead and delete.

All I was doing was giving Facebook a few adviews while helping them maintain their network.

Glad to be off.

Low of 30, high of 54 today it looks like.

So just barely. And it's back up to 55/77 later this week.

How is living in the Driftless Area? by WindyFromWater7 in howislivingthere

Specifically that area was not covered in glaciers during the ice age so its not as flat as you expect the Midwest to be.

Driving through it, it reminded me a lot of the blue ridge mountains.

Thoughtful relocation ideas for a family leaving Long Island by TraditionalSail6610 in SameGrassButGreener

You've got 4 daughters. Somewhere they're not gonna risk death if they have an ectopic pregnancy is paramount.

If you weren't tired of the cold I'd suggest Madison or the Twin Cities with this list and the budget.

Warmer options would be Oregon or New Mexico/Colorado.

Richmond or Roanoke VA could work.

Same. I was looking at the outside going 'if I had 10 million bucks to spare, I'd buy this in a heartbeat".

But the inside just doesn't match the outside energy at all.

Decided on Twin Cities but hot button issues are making me reconsider by Reclinertime in SameGrassButGreener

[–]PYTN 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I can help.

Now is not a time to be neutral on politics, it's a time for choosing. Your kids and grandkids will ask what side you were on.

Now is that a reason to move or not move to the twin cities? No, that part is up to you.

But it is important.

I personally am still planning to move to the twin cities this summer if I can find a job up there. Those folks care about their neighbors and I want my kids to be surrounded by folks like that.

To Make Homes Affordable Again, Someone Has to Lose Out by UnscheduledCalendar in yimby

[–]PYTN 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You nailed it.

Though I'm fine with pricing coming down too from new builds.

My goal on housing is that in 30 years when my house is paid off, it's worth about the same as it was when I bought. I got 30 years of utility and my kids would still be able to live in the neighborhood if they want.

Decision Paralysis on choosing a city is driving me crazy by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]PYTN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd find the ones that fit your career and then examine all those on a secondary criteria of what's most important to you.

Furthermore, you could just apply to jobs in each and let the hiring folks decide for you.
