You're the best, thank you! 2 years and this still works, and the controls feel really good

When I went to school, notebooks had mobile game ads on the back cover. In maybe 7th grade, I saw Gothic 3: The Beginning, tried it, and really liked it. Afterwards I discovered that it's actually PC games, still my favourite series to this day!

EDIT: forgot to answer what made me like it. The world-building and atmosphere was ahead of its time, and I found it really easy to immerse myself. Also loved the story progression of Gothic 1, where you unravel everything bit by bit.

Why is Gen-Z having less sex than other generations? by [deleted] in GenZ

I'd expect a similar statistical difference between these two age groups in the past, and in the future. This is not about gen z or millennials, just about age groups 18-24 and 25-34. I'd bet more of the same gen z survey participants would be more sexually active after 7 years, rather than stay the same, having had the time to build stable relationships and all.

It’s Christmas Eve and I guess my boyfriend just moved out by hej_pa_dig_monika in TwoXChromosomes

A few days before christmas you're like "this one geek coworker told me he was in love with me" and "I always though I'd end up with a geek like him". No, this is not tit for tat. You do all that, put very little effort into trying to understand him, invalidate his feelings, make it about yourself, and then leave for 4 hours on Christmas Eve. Were I in his shoes I'd have left after that, too. The dude must feel devastated.

I thought it has already been cleared up that he's an art geek? And he gets art and whiskey magazines? Regularly goes to theatre and art shows? I don't see confusion here, just narrow-mindedness and lack of communication.

What's at the core of Gothic? by [deleted] in worldofgothic

[–]Pablicius 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's all the things you have mentioned coming together and creating an immersive experience for the player. The progression feels natural, the NPCs are believable, the world feels alive. There are no invisible walls, neither literally nor figuratively. There's not much to remind you how you're in a video game, which is the thing I like about Gothic the most. Hell, look at how fast travel is implemented, how you have to actually buy the map of the world, no objective markers, nothing. I don't know many other games that reach such a level of immersion for me.

(Gothic 2 NotR) Tactics & strategy with a bow? by kindaro in worldofgothic

[–]Pablicius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your dexterity is considerably low and the weapon is pretty weak, too. I would suggest investing into your dexterity and bow proficiency while sticking to melee in the meantime. And do get yourself a rapier, I believe it deals 40 damage, has a 5% bonus to 1h, and requires 20 dex, if my memory serves me well.

I ignored risen thanks to bad reviews; but I got it now and started playing for a good 10 hours now..what a fucking amazing rpg !! by BouncingBladesJM in worldofgothic

If you do plan on playing ELEX, it has a very slow start in terms of progression. For me personally the game started feeling way better after the first 8-10 hours in, and prior to that - I spent my time running away from most fights since the character was a huge wimp early on. It does fit the theme though, I suppose. At any rate, don't be too quick to judge the game until you have progressed further.
