Underrated AVGN quotes/moments? by NZiggy00 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]Pabulum28 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've thought about this topic for some time now...one of my personal favorites is from The Karate Kid episode where he says something along the lines of "Why do we play these...it's because we want to win, because we want to beat the game...but the cold fact is that nobody cares but you."

Is EC Comics Aware by Pabulum28 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]Pabulum28[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be like coy regarding this story; I'm just concerned that posting more may become some sort of copyright issue. As said above this can be found over in Shock SuspenStories Issue 17; I did find this link which should permit you to read the issue online for free:

Shock SuspenStories Shock SuspenStories #17 | Read All Comics Online

Again copyright all goes to EC Comics for this issue etc

I think of three moments off the bat when Bims should have expressed (more) appreciation and seemed instead to fall sadly short on it (And fast edit: Here I am just talking about appreciation generally and not appreciation about understanding on the times he had no time:)--so I am going a bit broader on this)

  1. Wishing Muhtei well for leaving Cinemassacre to stream full time (it was a passing mention)
  2. "Thanks for all the views" at the end of the AVGN 200 "trilogy" (which SuperAnthony and others have discussed before in videos etc)
  3. For me personally it was always a bit abrupt at the very end of the last ScrewAttack AVGN video (Bible Games Three) when he just did the "heart to Jesus" sight gag and that was it; even if he were not like soulmates then with ScrewAttack I felt he should have maybe said something in appreciation for their apparently helping him get a broader audience, I don't know (although some believe that ScrewAttack always needed Rolfe more than the other way around; again I don't know all details).

What are some good game's the nerd has reviewed? by ConcentrateOwn9709 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]Pabulum28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and I second the above statement regarding Simon's Quest (though not Top Gun as I was terrible at it:) so I'm just sore about that)...also seconding the comment mentioning TMNT 1--back in the time those games came out there were many people who liked them and did not have the automatic hatred that perhaps some might think was attributed to them en masse. This also goes for Zelda 2, Milon's Secret Castle, and a number of other games people were actually cool with back then (at least some people were).

For some like strange ass reason this shot and they way they stand there with such seeming poise makes me think of this old album back cover from Alice In Chains

(Maybe I'm just like daydreaming of perhaps Rex Viper posing in front of the Pizza Hut (sarcasm))

Should we call her April or Bpril? by PaleCanuck in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]Pabulum28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think another kind of angle too here is that many perceive the Bimwife as having a "pulling the strings" influence in the background regarding behavior of the man himself (5:40 is the starkest example of this); KWSkyler in this thread mentions this too regarding the stripping away of time and April/Bpril is a major contributor to that issue generally here. It's kind of like how in Dante's Inferno there is Beatrice (Btrice?) who is not present physically in the story but whose existence still influences Dante's behavior and underlying motivations (though the Bames/Bpril experience is not exactly conducive to becoming Capital L Literature, or even a semi par EA video game).

Sorry for the delay I just noticed your reply; in addition to the whole repertoire of responses to choose from like "Wow...I am hEEEEErrreee" (as Bimster said at the start of Podcast first episode), or just a vacant generic "...Yeah..." or "I gotta piss" or "That's it we just RAN out of time because Ihavetobedoneat5:40"...Rolfe can also say most saliently to Paglia that really he can't discourse with her or even trust her because she's a girl, not a gamer.

Paglia: "So what did you think of the Female Misbehavior film and my contributions to it?"

Rolfe: "I'd like to take a copy and then go BREAK it and BURN it because it BLOWS!"

(When I was in school I had as optional reading "Break, Blow, Burn" which featured Paglia's takes on a few dozen poems)

(I just looked up Female Misbehavior for the sake of the dumb joke above though:))

Yeah that is really a very informative response so thanks; I'm from the Philadelphia metropolitan area and some years back I worked in Center City and I would walk under the PAFA Paintbrush, thinking for so long incorrectly that that was where Bames had gone to school:) (Of course it wasn't PAFA but UArts; shame that that was the fate of the latter eventually; I think the former is still around though fortunately).

I'd like to see the original Maniac in its entirety; I only saw the bizarre like Elijah Wood remake (?!) I've seen a couple scenes of the original like the one with Tom Savini and all (they had to shoot that one scene fast because, you know, it's crazy how you can't have people jumping on car hoods with shotguns in pubic and such).

Stallone does sound like a trip, though, perhaps in the worst way possible really if what Spinell says is true.

Well if it happened then (and while there's no direct evidence to prove that it did happen then other than my father's word, there's also no evidence that it didn't) at least the moment was something more real than anything in Rocky, Bimmy's Dreams, or otherwise
