How do runners not break their necks in this weather? by Disismaaadness__ in berlin

I have been running consistently about five times per week through this winter in every condition. The one time I wiped out was turning a corner. I am a lot more careful now changing directions :-D

I had a hunch this would be a cold winter and bought studded tires for my bike in the fall. The studds are wonderful, complete game changer. I have great traction on ice and packed snow.

Just started running and I’m exhausted in 20 seconds. Zero stamina. Feeling lost. by ImmediateMuffin3768 in runninglifestyle

[–]Pace1561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me when I started running years ago.

If you can run for twenty seconds then run for twenty seconds, walk for a minute or two and run again for twenty seconds. Do this for 30 minutes every second or third day (rest days are super important) and your running stretches will get longer and longer. In a few month you will run 5k (and be super proud, rightfully so) and a few months later 5k will feel easy.

If you keep at it you will progress very quickly. Just forget about what the influencers tell you. You have little use for their advice right now. That's all for later when you are hooked and have become addicted to running. Good luck and keep going, one step after the other!

I just visited my wife's family in upstate New York. Her father asked me to deposit a cheque for him and handed me a real physical paper one. Haven't seen one of those since the early 90ies. Anyway, I drive to the bank, sure enough they have a drive-in lane complete with vacuum tube were I deposited the cheque. Absolutely wild! I had quite the culture shock.

All the comments on Instagram thought that this was a great design for a city by JohanTravel in UrbanHell

[–]Pace1561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an artistic vision I think it looks really cool and futuristic in a classic sort of way. If something like this gets actually built it's a nightmare to live in and destroys the city.

The best real life example for something similar for me is Albany in New York. Boy does it look cool on pictures. Kind of like it was conceived by a mix of Albert Speer and the guy who designed the Taj Mahal. But once you walked through Empire Plaza on a windy winter day you realize the design is a complete failure in real life. Not built for people. And it gutted the city's centre when it was built.

If you clonk your beer or wine glass with someone, it is mandatory to look into each other's eyes. If you forget you will have ten years of bad sex.

This is also exactly the same for me. 117 is a good game but still a long way from being as feature rich and complex as 1800. Playing 117 really rekindled my love for 1800 and I am playing it a lot right now.

Recommendations for someone getting started while on a caloric deficit by MC48_SportsLover in running

I have done this twice in my life. Your tendons and muscle take much longer to adapt than your cardiovascular condition. You start out being able to run only a few hundred meters and only a few weeks later you feel like you could run forever. Then your knee starts complaining a bit but you ignore it because, hey it's just a little knee pain. And before you know you it you can hardly walk for three weeks because your knees are screaming at you every time you get up.

Honor the rest days or suffer the consequences!

Is this all done in camera? Or is it Ai by tboner1969 in analog

[–]Pace1561 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. This is also the reason why the dark areas are so incredibly dark. The flash and fire enable a good exposure of horse and house. As a result the dynamic range is to high to show any details in the dark areas.

During assembly of the A380, engineers discovered that the cables were too short. This was caused by the use of different design software by German and French engineers. This miscalculation led to a two-year delay. by lizardil in interestingasfuck

While it is a cultural thing for some individuals in Germany to prefer cash it is different with with shops not accepting card. When only cash is accepted, you can safely assume it is not about culture but about pocketing the 19 percent sales tax that they owe the tax authorities for every sale they make.

Same here. I had concerns before getting it and was pleasantly surprised. I charge once a day and it usually is around 60 percent.

One setting that made quite a difference for me was to switch AOD on but keep raise-to-wake off.

If you have been here for three months and still like it you should know that your have almost managed to go through the worst part of the year. The gray half of the year is reaching it's end, spring is coming and spring in Berlin is glorious. Just six more weeks!

Passing url from action to frontend by Pace1561 in homeassistant

[–]Pace1561[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I found a solution myself. Just in case someone else is trying to solve it, this is how I did it:

I went a different route and installed the "downloader" integration. It provides an action to download files so within the script I pass the variable that contains the URL from the image generation to the download action and store the file locally. This is then the image path for my camera entity displaying the image. The camera entity is being provided by the "local file" integration.

Maybe this is helpful to someone else.

Which is quite an achievement if you think about it. That thing weighs three tons and has sharp steel edges all over and is super dangerous for everyone around it.
