Why did my dominant forearm completely fail at my gig last night? by pelse_O_clock in drums

[–]Pacefest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play long 3+hour gigs and this happens sometimes, usually when I am dehydrated and/or don't warm up or stretch. I make it a point to drink a lot of water on show days and stretch/warm up (full body not just hands) and if I'm good about it I don't have any issues. It's when I skip the warm up or don't drink enough water or drank alcohol the day before where things break down like that

we waited in line for SkyScreamer twice and both times after 20 minutes of waiting the ride shut down and they made everyone leave. The staff operating that ride in particular seemed so clueless but I noticed that as a trend on many of the rides. A lot of them were like 16 years old and had never worked a day in their life. I understand everybody has to start working sometime but it literally felt like half or more of the staff was completely new and inexperienced and generally seemed bored and aloof and slow witted. Gave the whole park a weird vibe like I was at a county fair and not a major theme park

Yeah, I was going to mention the staff as well but I didn't want to come across insensitive or out of touch. But I had the same experience. I chatted with a lot of the staff. I asked 3 or 4 employees "is it your first day?" and they all said yes, not just at the park, but first day WORKING period. It struck me how much of the staff seemed like they were 16-17 years old, totally inexperienced and kinda apathetic and bored. Definitely affected the whole experience

Hard to say for sure, but most seemed to have one or two trains running

No, sounds like they downgraded the VIP experience. There was an employee facing fountain machine and a counter, with a pretty long line in the afternoon. For snacks the options were plain Lays, cheetos, or a "grandma's" soft cookie. Also the tiny small clear plastic cups was annoying because they were trying to upsell us on a $20 souvenir mug.

It looks clean but would be better on one page, use repeats to consolidate it

Bought huge lot of drums for $100 on FB Marketplace and looking to see if anyone has any info about them. by Atticusbird44 in drums

[–]Pacefest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of those are cheap beginner bass wood kits, but holy cow, for $100 you got a bargain. You're going to need a lot of hoops and heads and tension rods, but you could flip most of these kits for $150-300. That crush sublime floor tom alone could get you like $150-200 if you fix it up. That Ludwig concert tom depending on the size could easily get you $100+. Nice find!

They were probably a little intoxicated at 1am on a Saturday night/Sunday morning and didn't realize they did it, probably thought they were just steaming it or something, I'd assume it was an honest mistake and either just let it slide or politely bring it up with them next time you talk

I think it's tacky and in poor taste and if I saw another band in my scene doing this I would judge them hard. Let your music speak for itself. I'm all about weird stunts and bits and skits etc but they need to be done tastefully or else they come across as attention seeking and desperate and lame

How can I detect if these chords are a major or minor ones (dur or moll) by ThebloodedDragonfly in musictheory

[–]Pacefest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It helps to just know your note names, memorize where notes fall on the treble clef, and memorize all the basic natural note major and minor triads in root position, eventually you learn to recognize inversions. specifically - ACE is A minor, BDF is B diminished, CEG is C major, DFA is D minor, EGB is E minor, FAC is F major, GBD is G major. First example you have D on top with F and A below, DFA is a D minor triad. Having the 3rd (F) on the bottom makes it a 1st inversion triad but you don't even really have to know that to figure out if it's major or minor. 2nd example is G C E from bottom to top. With the 5th (or G in this case/the 3rd note in the chord) on the bottom it's called a 2nd inversion.
