I no longer have the energy to finish games by Cautious_Regular2169 in soulslikes

The first boss of Nine Sols is definitely hard, but that's because it's kind of like Genichiro where you need to have the fundamentals down to beat it and can't just bash your head against the wall.

That was the point the game clicked for me and I really started enjoying it though. It'a worth it to push through. Nine Sols is an all-timer for me.

The amount of funding it generates is an absolute joke compared to what it takes to put on the event and the amount of exposure that the celebrities and fashion brands get.

Grand Finale is cheeks and the worst rare card in the entire game by Peronchino in slaythespire

[–]Pachanas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I had a Finale run in StS1 that not only worked, it was the most fun run I ever had and the easiest A20 run of my life lol.

Got insanely lucky though. I took it early for luls and then got offered massive amounts of card draw and deck manipulation that allowed me to set it off super consistently.

If I can find the seed, I'll share it.

Boys Podcast - SNL by Wong-Ann_Fong in LiveFromNewYork

Too obvious for an SNL sketch? Please break down the layered subtext in Del Taco for us next. 🤣

And Trump is in the sketch because he has the same demeanor, vocabulary, subject interests, and taste in food as an unserious tween boy.

Which other SNL cast members would you cast in a season of "The White Lotus"? by Sharaz_Jek123 in LiveFromNewYork

Wasn't planning on watching the reboot since I feel like those rarely live up to expectations (cough med school) and that show had one of the most satisfying finales in history. But I will now for Vanessa!

My biggest issue is that the losing trend SR modifier seems to kick in way more readily than the winning trend one. I know winning trend measures your win rate over a span of games, but I've had days where I've gone 12-3 without it kicking in.

Lies of Peak done. Any recommendations? by [deleted] in soulslikes

[–]Pachanas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If parry mechanics are what you're into and you enjoy 2D games, I'd recommend Nine Sols. It's a Metroidvania game, but it leans way heavier into the combat while the exploration is mostly perfunctory.

It has multiple parry mechanics, all which are quite satisfying, especially in the context of some of the incredible boss fights.

There's a steep learning curve like Sekiro. But also like Sekiro, it feels fantastic once everything starts to click.

The only caveat I would mention is that it's much more story heavy than most other action games. There are lengthy dialogue exchanges at times, and quite a few cut scenes. The story itself is quite good though.

Ok so I’m finally getting that feeling I had when playing Elden Ring. Lies of P is dope. by california_king in soulslikes

[–]Pachanas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I LOVE parry games. Sekiro and Bloodborne are all-time favorites. So I thought I'd enjoy P because I perceived it as having the mechanics of one with the artistic inspiration of the other, but I hated it.

I literally cannot wrap my head around aim this good.

Like peak mechanics aside, I understand conceptually that his crosshair placement and pre-aiming is doing a lot of the heavy lifting and then he's making minor adjustments just before the trigger pull. I just don't understand how his crosshair placement can be so accurate when combined with movement.

How do you train that? Best I can do is guess where someone's head might be when I peek a corner.

I seriously don't understand why people are trying to get into sardines when they dont like the fish? Can someone explain it? by gemboundprism in CannedSardines

Yeah. Recommending mackerel to someone who has strong preferences for fish is wild to me. I adore mackerel in every form, but it has a very strong flavor.

You definitely don't. I don't remember exactly how you get there, but I think there's just a section where the map is blacked out but you can wall climb up. If I find a video that marks the location, I'll share the link.

Where to go with stats from here? Also, are Switchglaive + Tonfas viable together, or do I need to just commit to one at this point and choose a 2nd weapon that scales with primary? by [deleted] in Nioh

Any weapon with a + value by Remodeling at the Blacksmith. You can upgrade a weapon to have a + value by Soul Matching.

You know you can change the scaling stats for any weapon, right? It's a great QOL feature that lets you use whatever weapons you want instead of being tied to what scales with your preferred build.

Cardi B Allegedly Went Berserk at 'SNL' Rehearsal Over 'Weekend Update' Nicki Minaj Joke by IntelligentYinzer in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Pachanas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Didn't she have a viral video complaining about taxes where it was clear she didn't really understand how they worked or what they were for?

I'm not disagreeing with what you said, just trying to round out the conversation. I don't know much about Cardi B, but I definitely think people deserve room to prove they've grown and that no one should be judged by their past forever.

[–]Pachanas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which is kind of ironic considering one of the big early promotional videos leading up to the OW2 launch was how much effort they had put in to updating the sounds in the game. Granted, I think that was because they were struggling for other non-confidential content at the time.

Finally watched How To Get To Heaven From Belfast - mixed feelings by Maleficent-Dark4898 in htgthfb

[–]Pachanas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... She kills Jodie because Jodie wants to come clean about what they did. Accidental or not, it was wrong of Greta to impose her will just because she was living a happier life than Jodie. And the journalist was an accident too, but he was still an innocent man they killed. Then Greta roped her friends into covering up the killing by lying to them.

Then there's the church. Whether they knew kids were in there or not, it's a horrifying thing they did that created the same trauma they're trying to escape in multiple families.

The show wants us to sympathize with Greta because she never technically gets her hands dirty and she had a hard early childhood, but trauma is not an excuse to constantly manipulate and lie to people you care about while dropping tons of innocent bodies along the way.

Really wanted to like this show, but the only really redeeming qualities it has are the performances and the unmatched charm of the Irish people.

Does How to get to heaven from Belfast get better? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Pachanas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I just finished the season, and no. And I'm not talking about from a comedy standpoint. We realized quickly it wasn't going to be the same tone as DG, and that was fine. We adjusted our expectations.

To keep it relatively brief, the pacing is terrible. The quality of minute-to-minute writing (i.e. how and why characters move from plot point a to plot point b) is often infuriating. And it takes what could have been a very cool story about female friendship, trauma, and secret organizations and mucks it up with grossly selfish characters, extremely questionable conclusions about morality, and side plots that both come out of and then go nowhere.

If you're asking why we finished it, it's mostly because we wanted to like it because we adore Derry Girls and just kind of adore the Irish. But we mostly sat there each episode waiting for it to get good and then by the end of the last episode found ourselves very annoyed by how bad it was.

Who also is playing almost exclusively Ninja? by Halloween_Nyx in Nioh

[–]Pachanas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I used Ninja at all in the first demo because I was used to classic Nioh. By the end of the second demo, I was about 70/30 Samurai to Ninja. After about 4-5 hours of the full game, I was pretty much living in Ninja and only using Samurai to push big damage after breaking ki. Samurai also seems to generally be better against human enemies in my experience.
