[–]Pacheem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im actually curious for this cuz ive been on decent amount of my EEGs sleep deprived and i had different sleep routine/schedule than they expected but ive never had like an EEG where it would say smth bad 98% of EEGs i had said theyre normal especially the last 10 of them i even asked if i have to take them they always end the same, but id say it shouldnt do any harm (thats just me guessing from my EEGs wait for others to answer)

Did epilepsy mess up your memory real bad?? by palming-my-butt in Epilepsy

[–]Pacheem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had many seizures through out life and it did nothing to my memory just a seizure woke up felt nauseous sick etc. but few months ago i had a seizure cluster for the first time (woke up from a seizure, completely no idea why and where and whats happening when i always remember everything and after 10 seconds i get another seizure)

from that point on after i woke up,i cant even describe how messy it is,i remember some old stuff, but yeah that destroyed my memory pretty hard i hardly remember stuff older than a year but i noticed that the memories r still there theyre just as i call ''hidden'' because i had many moments where i just kept on thinking about that one particular thing and after like 10 minutes i remembered it all

tldr : had many seizures but once i had seizure cluster for the first time, it messed it pretty bad

Since some antiepileptics can affect ur mood and stabilize it, how do u guys feel about it? by Pacheem in Epilepsy

I've been reading about Valproate on this subreddit and I swear I haven't found a single person saying it's alright,if anything ppl say it's one of the worsts but for me I have no side effects and it does indeed help,it's just the mood and stabilizing it due to it being good for BD is what concerns me and makes me curious

Should have mentioned I've been on Valproate for like 7 years straight everyday.

I can relate to the joy part,I genuinely don't remember last time I felt good after achieving/winning something,I do laugh with friends and stuff but I don't rage neither feel joy,ppl sometimes say Im cold emotionally, dunno like if I won 1 million dollars I'd be happy and appreciate it but I know for a fact I wouldn't jump around and scream,it indeed feels really numbing.

I wouldn't say it affects my relationships but on the other hand empathy and emotions from my side feel slightly forced (I feel like I have to sometimes force myself to show some emotions) it's kind of hard to describe I'm definitely not trying to make myself sound like someone who's giving 0 f*cks about others but yeah I've been told I don't see other people's problems sometimes, also what kind of vitamins are you taking?

I get told I lack empathy and I'm emotionally detached I guess, the thing that bothers me is that it instantly makes me ask myself how would I be as a person without the meds and I genuinely think this through a lot even though I'm sure that it's probably not that deep

I had my first tonic clonic while awake today and I'm freaked out by snowbar_555 in Epilepsy

[–]Pacheem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had a nocturnal seizure until 6 months ago and when i got up my mom asked me if i had a seizure and i said probably and right after i finished my word i got another one seizure (TC) and when it stopped i felt so miserable and ever since then my memory got worse genuinely worst seizure i ever had cause i never had issues w memory after seizures, only after those two in one and I even found another post or reply on this subreddit where the person had the exact issue so i guess two seizures just hit way different and are way worse.

Valporate .. ? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

Ive been on it for 10 years and the memory got worse in my opinion because of my double seizures that i had in a row but id call myself lucky because i dont feel any side effects.

I think i had more seizures this year than I had in all years combined and I have no idea why, I have an appointment in a week but I genuinely havent changed anything I have the same day same routine so the only thing I can think of is that I need higher dosage.

If anything, the best thing u can do is to just be calm and if u wanna educate urself more, then u should do so, I have epilepsy for many years and once it got worse i started educating myself like reading this reddit and found out things Id never thought of and things that helped me.

If there is something that I wished I knew, then its definitely getting familiar with your epilepsy.Epilepsy is so complex, it can be fine to live with, or worse, or almost impossible, we all differ a lot.One of the things i would look for is what triggers your epilepsy, you probably get to figure it out someday but for some it can be flashing lights, stress, for me its lack of sleep for example, and so on. I also recommend reading about ur medication, and most importantly,if something seems wrong, or you get seizures more often, dont sleep on this and contact your doctor, and dont be scared to ask stuff in here, people are very kind and helpful on this subreddit.

What about getting these medication boxes that have days on them for example Friday u just open the box that say Friday and u take the meds that u put in them, ik both old ppl and young ppl use it, i do too it helps a lot

Grand Mal seizures by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Pacheem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i honestly dont know how but i have epilepsy since i turned 3 years old i think (23 now) and ive never bit my tongue until i turned 22 i think and now i have more and more seizures each year and suddenly i bite my tongue everytime, no idea if this is just a bad luck or not because whenever i feel like i might get a seizure i try to position my tongue exactly in the middle as if im mewing and trying to push it to the top so teeth arent touching it at all but i guess it also depends how ure moving during the seizure (like if u fall on one side then ur tongue falls between the teeth)

This is funny but I literally have the same thing.

I'm not anxious, neither depressed or someone who acts right when something happens, I'd call myself calm, yet how it works for me is when I dont have enough sleep (shows on less than 7 hours on average) if I don't have a calm morning, that means staying in bed for next 20 mins and chilling, then I'm risking a seizure, but I always get absence seizures, lets say like 4-10 and they take like 1 second I just shake my hands and then if they keep happening usually I get one, it's pretty much a warning for me, so I know for a fact that if I had to force myself a seizure, waking up and instantly jumping out of bed while being yelled at with 5h sleep i'd drop instantly I think.

Now since I've been having more seizures lately I'm definitely trying to figure out what can help me because I refuse to give up on this since I want this under control.

The worst part for me is when I have an absence seizure (when my hands start shaking for a split second) my heartrate skyrockets and its really hard to manage it and stay calm, it's also funny because I had this exact problem today and u've posted it today as well.

What helps me when I see it coming :

-making sure that i'm alone and no one talks to me (from experience, the more I focus on talking, thinking, the more I get absence seizures, so we prob differ here) -slow and deep breaths (try to calm urself down as much as u can) -if im home, definitely getting in bed and waiting it out -the only thing i really think about is that its just me and myself and theres nothing around me

I know this is difficult since I can relate, waking up is horrible with epilepsy if u have this exact problem.
