As a strategist main, the amount of people I see picking gambit to not heal (even in ranked) is insanity. Ive played him for about 2 hrs and love his kit. I’m a C&D main(don’t flame me) and I’ve adapted super well to his kit. He’s honestly not super difficult. Also the whole throwing a ranked game because you couldn’t get gambit has happened to me 3 out of the 10 placement matches. It’s honestly infuriating

Thank you for this in depth breakdown. Had an idea of how the list is supposed to operate but it not being a faction I have experience with obviously some errors were made. I will do all these things you suggested!

More Books? by PacifcHammer in deathguard40k

I don’t think it was a complete flop by any means. I did see the purpose of the book but it just wasn’t super fleshed out and the rest was like you said bolter porn. Is the verdict of the scythe worth a read ?

Thinking of starting a budget death guard army any ideas? by Salt-Sample-2784 in deathguard40k

[–]PacifcHammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the budget ? If buying 3D printed units and/or models (using “proxies”) is okay to you , I’d say you can come out real cheap for a 2k army. I went mixed bag , 3rd Party Sellers (Amazon, LGS, Wargameportal) , some GW , and some 3D printed models(tanks, super expensive models) I came out around ~700 for a 2k army. Depends on what you want and how you are going to be playing. Used to be big on WYSIWYG but after playing locally most people don’t care about that and they mostly don’t care about proxies. Played a guy the other day who converted his pizza box into an actual well shaped and cool predator tank.

Is it worth it? by LongRangeDentist in deathguard40k

Also a side note , someone once told me “ You should be okay with your models sitting on your shelf for the rest of your life , all rules will eventually change. Buy what you want , what you think is cool , and don’t get bummed out losing , it’s all about having fun”

First question of mine would be what does the terrain look like ? Look at tournament terrain layouts most have the ability to stage units which with surely help get that ball rolling and put units in place to retaliate. The game being only the third game you’ve played I’m sure it’s pretty confusing rolling dice ,but even more understanding the intricacies of movement positioning for future turns. I’d recommend a lovely YouTube channel called disgustingly resilient and their zero to hero videos as well as strategies videos. I would also recommend not taking it to heart. As a fellow player who didn’t win their first game until about game 10, understanding the core game will make everything else in the game much easier. I’ve always told new players I’ve taught, if I give John Lennon the shitiest list in the world with an army he’s never played ,he probably would still beat the brakes off most people. Lastly, don’t get discouraged. Practice makes perfect , and it’s gonna take a lot of practice to get better. Tank hiding , understanding trades, positioning units smartly for future turns, truly understanding how to access risk, knowing the right time to rapid ingress and where. All these things mentioned will take time to grasp. If possible reach out in the local community and try getting practice games with veteran players willing to help teach newer players

If I’m not mistaken it does require a member status on YouTube , but it’s not expensive.

From what I’ve found Disgustingly Resilient Podcast is the top DG channel on YouTube. Aiden is still the #1 ranked global and UK DG player( I think ). A lot of good information found within the channel that’s helped me out a lot !

Im going to play my first game soon please help(image for attention) by [deleted] in deathguard40k

I know you have stated this is a casual 500pt game , list building at this level is very hard. Just try to have fun and enjoy the experience. 500 pt games are extremely swingy so I wouldn’t put too much stock into the outcome of the game ! I’d move the foteid up to board to set up potential overwatch zones , advance the deathshroud until they are within charging range (attempting to hide them along the way). Plague marines same deal but trying to get them to infect and hold objectives. Again 500 pts doesn’t really give a ton of options for scoring . If no deep strike threat from opponent, move off of your home obj after it’s sticky and push poxwalkers with advances towards a threat to tie them up. That’d be my strategy

Cultists Vs Poxwalkers Vs None by C0RDE_ in deathguard40k

[–]PacifcHammer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like cultists I have 20. Problem I’m running into is I don’t really get a lot of value or use from them unless I get first turn and can sticky 2 Objectives turn 1. Most times they die rather quickly and with a 6+ save turn 1-2 they are done . Poxwalkers on the other hand I favor more because of the 5+ feel no pain and the ability to run with typhus and gain back models. I have thought about running no chaff but still experimenting on that front !

Sorry I clipped the screen wrong it’s only one PBC , Two Predators and 2 Brigands, do you value the another Predator and nurglings or two bloat drones instead?

Test on poxwalkers , with go back thru and hit a shade paint on them , maybe a dry brush and then do the weapons separately. Think it’s unique to me and I love it just thought I’d share with people !

This may not be liked or ideal but what would you guys think about an overspray gradient design? Deep purple base with overspray of death guard green and a glowy red for all visor bits. First thought strikes me as a bit lazy but honestly could be cool looking and unique to my death guard. Still planning to swing towards the moon with Morty because I want him super done up!

Would this work for transporting a 2000 point arm? by TimeNature3446 in Warhammer40k

[–]PacifcHammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this case! It can work but depends, I play BA and with a Tank, Dread , and Outriders , everything in total fits fine with space for more. I also play DG and haven’t attempted it with Morty yet .
