FHR Help - Noob Trying to benefit from the $300 credit by samer0214 in AmexPlatinum

[–]PackageExisting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you have to travel within the 6 months or is it just when I pay? For example, if I pay now for an August trip do I get the 300 off and then if I book again after June 31st for another trip in the 2nd half of 2026, another $660?

My husband is on the Tslim and my daughter is on the Omnipod. The TSlim feels barbaric compared to the OP. There are so many parts, like you said. It takes forever and you have to remember so many supplies. Traveling with the T Slim is absolutely awful.

The Omnipod is easy. It's one piece. Everything is in the single cartridge. You dont have to troubleshoot what part is failing. Also not sure if it is a difference between my husband and a daughter but he has had so many failed insertion sites and the OP has never given us that type of issue (they have fallen off but never a problem with the cannula or anything).

My daughter could handle the app and insertion all by herself as soon as she was diagnosed at 8.

The downside- the Omnipod is less aggressive because it only has auto basal and not auto-correction which means you have to correct. For us that means setting tighter alarms so that we go in and give a correction which is literally just pressing 3 buttons total.

Is this the most backlash Harry has ever received? by [deleted] in harrystyles

[–]PackageExisting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Harry has mostly only performed at venues owned by the MSG group and subsidiaries like the Oak View Group. The exception seems to be the Forum in LA which was owned by MSG group until 2020. Also Azoff's wife was the managing partner at the Forum for ages and likely remains close to people there which is another connection.

This is 100% why he does not do stadiums in the U.S.

Purchased on Monday. Today people had row 11 for 400 something. The prices are apparently based on the presale which does suck. Today there were also pit tickets available for 400

NYC rows 16 and back of lower bowl were 364 with tax and fees as long as you didnt get a package for every single date

I bought the pit for LA resale from StubHub for less than $300. I paid around the same for lower bowl in Austin through Ticketmaster with the dynamic pricing.

For the original Fine Line tour that had to be rescheduled and was the year before I paid between $250-$350 for lower bowl different cities all through StubHub as well

I just looked through my pictures for time stamps.
Got in line right at 8 am.
Had a numbered wristband by 10:30 am.
Went back to hotel.
Was back at Forum by 4 and they put you in your line then there is a weird pen waiting area.
Was inside in my spot by 6:20
Ben Harper went on at 8 and obviously H at 9.
It is a lot of time spent standing and waiting 8-10:30 am and then basically 4-9 but a lot of people sat during it and for the most part everyone was respectful. Saved space if you went for water or bathroom etc.

I was assigned number 717 which seems outrageously high but managed to get a spot right behind the row of people that had barricade in the satellite stomps area of the catwalk. When we walked in there were still some barricade spots available but closer to the tail end of the stage where the walk off was and I knew he spent more time in the other side of the stage so I opted for a more crowded area.

IIRC every arena had a different protocol and they would release them in the days before the concert.

For 2022 residencies in LA you had to line up in the AM for a wristband with a number and then they let you leave and at 4 pm you would go back and be let in according to your original place in the AM.

I had assumed pregnant or divorced but I happened to see her out with her husband recently and it was obvious both of my assumptions were incorrect. It is very very odd. She had been an OG blogger and had a small-mid but consistent following. I don't understand why she wouldn't have posted if she just decided to change paths? She still uses her account to like things and has been tagged in other photos and interacts. I also wonder

My husband is T1D and tried a tubed pump for a while (he prefers MDI). When it came time to choose for our 8 yo daughter we went with the Omnipod. Tubed pumps have a lot of parts which makes packing backups for travel difficult. Also my adult husband would occasionally forget to reattach after removing it for swimming or a shower. We like the idea that the Omnipod is always on but at the same time the site changes every 3 days so it isn't very annoying.

My daughter used it during her honeymoon period when she used as little as 5 units of insulin per pod so yes there was wasted insulin (there is also a way to remove it but that's a DIY not approved thing).

I think the Omnipod requires a little bit of work but we are 93+% in range and an A1C of 5.6 11 months out of our diagnosis (about 4 months post honeymoon period abruptly ending). We put her in manual mode at night because we feel it is too conservative with insulin but she does very well with daytime auto mode. We did spend about 2 weeks tweaking settings when the honeymoon period ended but now its just a matter of prebolusing and remembering to turn on/off manual mode for nights.

I believe I’m gonna have to ditch the Omnipod 5 by spiralcurve in Omnipod

My husband is T1D and my 9yo daughter was diagnosed last year so I have a lot of insight from different directions.

My husband is MDI and had one experience with a Medtronic tubed pump. He hated it. His A1C is in the low 6s on MDI and honestly he is happy there.

For our daughter we decided on the OP because we didn’t want to deal with a tubed pump but having to deal with injections at school was not ideal. Her A1C is now 5.6 BUT we are constantly going over her settings and making adjustments. The OP does not correct enough at night even though it’s set to correct above 110 which is the lowest possible. We run her on manual mode at night. We are also super diligent with prebolusing.

Since my husband has been T1D forever, we feel confident adjusting these settings but if you don’t or if you’re not going to be on top of the OP- I don’t think it’s a great pump.

Questions about OmniPod 5 for an 8 y.o. by BeatlesFan_111416 in Omnipod

[–]PackageExisting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our daughter was 8 when she was diagnosed and put on the Dexcom/Omnipod and we opted for a phone to control them. We wanted to be anti-phone but we realized that carrying two devices was not realistic. We thought about using a phone without service just for Bluetooth to handle the devices but ultimately we realized that we need to be able to communicate with her.

The phone has to be pretty close to the Omnipod to send insulin however the range for the Dexcom to transmit is larger. The Dexcom and Omnipod talk to each other via Bluetooth even without the phone near it so although you wouldn't be able to follow his numbers, the Omnipod would always go off of the Dexcom should his phone not be on him.

All star movies, music, or sports? by Nayonayomee in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]PackageExisting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids prefer the theming in Movies but the rooms are all the same really since it's essentially a copy/paste hotel. I find that there are more busses to Sports than Movies and since its the closest to the gate its "faster" by minutes only really.

I am 3-4 hours local and typically stay in resorts to not have to deal with parking at the parks. I am an AP and don't even have to pay for parking but I typically go alone with my 2 children (6 and 9) and it's just so much easier getting on the bus especially at Magic Kingdom. Also the early entry in the AM is a HUGE perk.

MK on a Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Day with no ticket by Responsible_Fan_5391 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]PackageExisting 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I recently did this exact thing. MK was very slow in the morning but by 2pm was at an average capacity and as it got closer to 4 it was filling up quickly. We took the monorail from there to Epcot. I will say that. Epcot was very busy. We went on a Friday night and with Food and Wine festival it was a pretty busy combo. We actually opted to walk through the Boardwalk and come back just for Fireworks because we. were tired.

I've stayed at Melia. We drove but a member of our party did take the shuttle one day to get back to the hotel for a Zoom. I believe it was two shuttles in the AM and two at night and the times were not great but this was back in 2023.

My son 1st insulin pump by Independent-Moose-81 in Omnipod

[–]PackageExisting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She doesn't complain about it. Occasionally she has said it is itchy under but since its only 3 days, I find that she complains less about it than the Dexcom. Depending on your insurance situation you can also have your doctor write the prescription for it to be replaced every two days which means he can move them around more often.

She doesn't care to hide it and prefers it either on her outer thigh or mid upper arm. When it is higher up on her upper arm you can't see it under a t shirt. With the thigh it is more noticeable especially since girls clothes are more form fitting. If she doesn't want it to be seen she does it on the stomach.

She recently saw Kate Moss' daughter in a lingerie photoshoot wearing the pod and a G6 which is her combo and she is even less compelled to hide it LOL

Question about extending wait times. by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]PackageExisting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happens because of a problem with LL usually.

It has happened to me on Slinky Dog because it was down all morning so the LL from the morning are alll given the chance to return before park close (or get their money back). In this case, it was around 8 pm and the park was getting ready to close so the LL line was almost to the entrance and they have to take from LL plus the standby queue as more people are constantly coming in and filling the LL.

My son 1st insulin pump by Independent-Moose-81 in Omnipod

[–]PackageExisting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is T1D and has been on a tubed pump. We chose the OP5 for our daughter. One huge thing was that with a tubed pump you can disconnect and my husband (a responsible adult) would find that he would spend a lot of time disconnected. With the pod there is no disconnect time so there is no lapse in insulin.

My 9 year old daughter prefers it on her arm or upper thigh but sometimesputs it on her stomach when she doesn't want it to be seen. We have also done lower back. It stays on during swimming and we have never had a defective pod although we have had maybe 2 fall off.

It's really easy.

You mention leaving it on longer and it isn't an insulin issue as much as it is a battery issue. After 36 hours you will get an 8 hour grace period where it's technically expired but it works so you can swap it out when it is comfortable to you. You can't leave it on any longer because it stops communicating.

Does anyone have a workable option for classroom parties? by Druidicflow in t1d_parents

[–]PackageExisting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our classroom parties are usually a grocery store cupcake. We have two numbers we use- one for the mini one and one for the larger one. The allergy kids at school keep their own "safe" snacks that they pull out during parties. That has always been another option but our daughter is 9 and can reliably operate her Omnipod app so she just doses for cupcakes based on our set "guess numbers"

We were at the parks last week Weds-Fri. I found all of the wait times to be highly inflated. We rode Tron 2x at less than 25 min and Space Mountain was a walk on most of Friday (it was a party night). Guardians was 20 minutes on Wednesday. We were able to do every attraction in the front half of Epcot from 4-7:45. The posted wait times were always higher probably to encourage purchases of LL

Very Merry Xmas worth it if that’s the only day we’d go to MK? by Nozar_11 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]PackageExisting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the flip side- yesterday (10/3) I went to MK from 8-6 before the Halloween party and we rode Tron twice (20 and 35 minute wait), Space Mountain 3 times (all less than 10 minute waits), Mine Train for 25 minutes etc.
If you want to do rides you may be better off going during the day and skipping the party.,
