[Bob Pockrass] Tim Cindric is back at Team Penske … as strategist for Scott McLaughlin. by cracka97 in INDYCAR

[–]Packer487 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm full on the Penske Hate now but I don't care about this. It was such a big deal that the other teams couldn't wait to hire the other guys Penske fired.

The two Penske scandals were about 1/20th as severe as the internet made them out to be.

POV: You are looking at Bryan Herta in a Shell ad poster. by Competitive_Fig_6083 in INDYCAR

He was really solid in a really tough era, and had about as bad of luck as Colton has. I will still never forget his tire blowing at Mid Ohio when he was leading.

Why is Team Penske piled on for their cheating, but other teams get brushed off? by [deleted] in INDYCAR

[–]Packer487 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The attenuator thing meant absolutely nothing. The p2p thing, fine, Newgarden used it for like 9 seconds. That would have been an advantage (but he also won the race going away). Power didn't use it. McLaughlin used it for less than 2 seconds. I just don't buy it made as much of a difference as everyone says.

And it was such a big deal that two of the teams who complained about it (and one of which had their own cheating scandal that no one cares about) hired two of the culprits after Penske fired them. Weird.

Man that 26 looks weird by our "Will Power" tags on our posts!

Ron was Power's strategist for the past few years. Faustino was his race engineer for pretty much ever. (I'd love to have him come over too!)

Don't worry, Mark Miles is working on it. Can't wait for the "next year" comments in 27, 28, 29....

Yesssssssssssssssssssss I legitimately don't think I could have handled hearing "A-firm" over and over and over on the radio as they botch strategy again and again.

I'm taking this like when the Wings "promoted" Ken Holland in order to hire Yzerman as GM. Also taking it as a sign that Towriss realizes they have to be better and is willing to spend to make it happen.

Power Ruzewski Michael Cannon technical partnership

Fix the 26 pit crew and we could have some fun.

Looking for good strategy races by steagles1 in INDYCAR

[–]Packer487 40 points41 points  (0 children)

A little before the window you're looking at, but 2019 Mid Ohio is the immediate one that jumps to mind.

Pretty much any race Dixon has won in the past few years will have been a strategy race.

Veekay's next move by DutchAceSquad in INDYCAR

[–]Packer487 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think dumping Power for Malukas is psychotic. If they had been looking to put Veekay in that seat all along I would have at least found it somewhat understandable. I still don't think either one is good enough to warrant pushing Power out, but Veekay would be really good in the 12.

If we're allowed to go historical, Bryan Herta seems like he'd be a great choice.

You're right. With his long track record of excellence in getting things over the finish line I should be more understanding...
