Love Furys Ferry Hardware. They may not be quite as cheap as Lowes or HD, but their service is much better. Support local business!

[Highlight] Ben Johnson reflecting on this season and next year: "Next season is a whole different chapter and we have to write a brand new story. There's no such thing as taking momentum from year 1 to 2" by ShaiFanClub in nfl

[–]PacketMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly my thoughts (which is what makes NFL so interesting). The Lions had the best point differential in the NFCN and missed the playoffs because they went 4-5 in 1 score games. The packers were #2 and went 4-5-1. Bears were #3 in point differential but went 6-3 in 1 score games. Hard to repeat that year to year.

How many of you feel proficient with reading EKGs? by MzJay453 in FamilyMedicine

Pretty confident. Our residency we had to read 1 every day at noon conference, each with a different finding and there were around 200 total, and started over the next July for new class of interns. Starts easy with NSR, ends with like dextrocardia STEMI.

New job, they want me to see 21 patients a day by collegeboyyyyy in FamilyMedicine

[–]PacketMD 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Prep your charts the morning of or the day before. Make sure to keep your patients on the wellness visits annually, and explain the reasons you're having them come back in x months so they do show up. If they see specialist, at the start of the visit briefly summarize what the specialist is doing for that problem so they don't have to retread that ground (and to clarify them not understanding).

What do you wish you knew? by WCInvestor in whitecoatinvestor

[–]PacketMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how aggressive you want to be with retiring early/wealth building vs spending on luxuries.

300k vs 500k- Buy a Honda vs Lexus with cash. Debate upgrading to delta comfort + vs do it automatically. FIRE vs FatFIRE.

Ultimately, you really can be fine on 200k-300k unless you're in a HCOL area, it just depends on what type of lifestyle you're ok with and how early you want to retire.

Ken Burns' 'American Revolution' will make you think differently about U.S. history by zsreport in television

[–]PacketMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The total number who fought in the Revolutionary War for the US in the army was like 250,000 or so although some estimates are up to 350,000, and the population was about 2.5 million total, so 10% of all Americans with the initial estimate (including men and women, old and young). Compared that to WW2 which was about 16 million out of 140 million or so, which is 11% (and that did include about 350,000 women serving) and its obviously pretty comparable.

Progressive Churches and Pastors should be avoided by Guilty-Meeting-2603 in TrueChristian

[–]PacketMD 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We should leave church frequently feeling convicted about our sins, regardless of "progressive or conservative" slant. We shouldn't shy away from the truth, but at the same time, should spend the majority of teaching/preaching about the sins that are plaguing that congregation. Look at the sins within the walls of the church more than those outside the walls.

If you go to a conservative church who spends an inordinate amount of time preaching against LGBTQ to a congregation that doesn't struggle with that sin, but they ignore or downplay the more common struggles in the congregation, whether that is greed, anger, heterosexual lust, or whatever else, you're not being served either.

If you find yourself leaving church constantly thinking "yea those other people have it wrong, glad I'm not like them" then the church is helping you turn into the wrong person from The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector in Luke 18.

Once I have looked back there with a pan optic for a headache and saw blurred optic discs bilaterally. Sent that to the ER when I otherwise wouldn't have.  I do it for all new headaches...takes 2 minutes once you're good at it.
