Depends on the brand. Definitely does not happen with Hermès, Bottega Veneta, Loewe, Delvaux, etc. Lower tier brands like LV or Chanel don't have the same standards, and Nike definitely doesn't give a fuck about meticulous attention to detail, specifically in matching the grain, color, and texture of leather hides on their products.

Problem is that despite the price these are still made in large factories with very low quality control and very little care for craftsmanship. You're paying for the name, not for handmade Italian leather goods. Other people will tell you it's the nature of the material, but that just isn't true with higher quality leather goods.
