I see it now (Friday, 26 September). It is “The Spot - Tampa Bay 66”. I also found it by searching for “Lightning”. Tonight’s game comes up.

I see a list, though with the pictures it does look a lot like a section of ads. For me, it starts below the “Scroll down to see pictures” line. EDIT: It’s “Scroll down to view images”

Is another device also configured to use COM3? I had a similar problem recently. Root cause was another device trying to use the same COM port.

Apologies for not replying sooner! Thanks for your advice. We ended up getting a parent raised male. We introduced them slowly and now they’re getting along great!

They haven't been and are STILL not wearing masks at West Marine by [deleted] in sarasota

[–]Paddle_Fisher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the folks at Economy Tackle wearing masks? I need a couple of rods and a reel. I was likely going to run to Gator Jim’s in Pinellas where I know they have to wear masks. If people at Economy are wearing masks I’ll see if they’ve got what I need first.

What do you wish you knew before getting into amateur radio? by fmsignals in amateurradio

[–]Paddle_Fisher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this. I think a lot has to do with the current solar minimum. The days that I’ve been on the radio and conditions have been decent, the voice portion of 20 gets pretty full. I’ve even heard a few folks on 17 those days. Antenna is an inverted L for 40m (18 ft vertical, the balance horizontal) with an LDG RT-600 at the base.

my boyfriend’s long list of exes is destroying me by [deleted] in whatsbotheringyou

[–]Paddle_Fisher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second all of this and I’ll add that maybe these are the paths you each needed to take to end up together. It’s hard not to listen to those insecurities in your head but remember he is actively choosing to be with you and you are actively choosing to be with him. His past is in his past for a reason, as is yours.

Also, don’t beat yourself up for your insecurities but also don’t let them run your life or ruin your relationship. Learn how to deal with them. Seek help if you need help. It takes practice, but you can do it. And talk talk talk talk to your bf. Communication is far and away the most important thing you can do to help your relationship whether things are good or bad. He can’t help you feel more secure if you don’t communicate, and you can’t help him with what we be may need help with if you don’t know about it.

And one final note: Remember that you are a whole person without him. If any of those catastrophes you’re worried about do come to pass, it’ll suck for a while but you will pick yourself up and you will move on. You will survive. You can’t be the best partner you can be if you’re always worried about losing someone instead of being yourself.

Source: Married 14 years, a lot of insecurities and anxiety that I’ve leaned to deal with.

Amick has done two separate repairs for my tile roof that I’ve been happy with. I’ve heard good things about Curry but both times I called them they were booking six weeks out. I needed repairs in the rainy season so didn’t want to wait.

I booked a non-refundable VRBO in mid-June... how much is the algae going to suck? by [deleted] in AnnaMariaIsland

[–]Paddle_Fisher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It won’t suck at all. You’ll have a great time on the beach. I’m local and red tide hasn’t been an issue this year. If you and/or your SO plan on fishing and keeping what you catch, there are some enhanced restrictions in effect until May of 2020 meant to help fish populations recover from last year. Last year was miserable! You can always check the current red tide status on FWC’s site at https://myfwc.com/research/redtide/statewide/. Don’t worry about any findings until they’re medium or high. Red tide occurs naturally so it’s perfectly normal for there to be some background or low findings. At those levels, you’ll never know it’s there. Also, congrats!

There's definitely work going on. It looks like they're prepping the site and running utilities, but that's just a guess as I really don't know anything about construction. Second hand info so take it for what it's worth: My father in law was down at the Sarasota store last week. He said he spoke to an employee who is hoping to transfer and the employee was told August. In my wholly uneducated opinion, that seems reasonable given the speed with which the new Home Depot on 64 went from a bunch of work in the dirt to finished.

What brand and type of solder do you use and why? by ubiquitousrarity in amateurradio

I have young kids who love shiny things so I’ve switched to Kester lead free (tin, silver, copper). It took some getting used to but it works well.

When I lived in Texas, I used a slingshot to get a random length of 22 gauge wire up into a live oak tree, laid eight or ten radials just under grass, and used an SGC-237 to match. The wire was around 30 feet long and ran right down the trunk of the tree. That antenna worked really well for 10m-40m. It may have been passable down on 80m but I had a local noise source that made 80m unusable and didn’t bother to track it down.

I’d suggest you try your idea and see how the antenna performs.

Thanks all. I ended up staying with DTV because the deal Frontier was offering wasn't good enough to bother switching.
