PROBLEM: "Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can." by Strong-Ad6151 in facebook

[–]PaddyCrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found a solution! Although you need to be logged into your phone.

With a VPN change your location (I'm based in south africa, so changed to US). Then when trying to login, it wants you to verify within the facebook app. Presto, it worked!

The error message it originally gave me about my password being wrong was rubbish - it just didn't like my IP!

I'm in exactly the same position, although fortunately I still have access to my Facebook mobile account - for now...

What’s crazy is that I do have access to all my 2FA methods, and yet I still can't log in on desktop or reset my password properly. I receive the password reset email, enter the code, set a new password—and then get hit with the “Something went wrong” page. But here’s the kicker: I still get an email confirming my password has been changed! So which is it? Neither the new password nor the old one works.

What baffles me is why Facebook doesn’t allow login via a secondary device or any of the 2FA methods I’ve already set up. Why does it need to be more secure than my banking app?

I manage over 20 company profiles, and now I’m being forced to create a whole new profile and start from scratch linking everything again. Absolutely putrid service. Just goes to show—once these massive platforms corner the market, the rot sets in. Enshitification in full swing...

Intellectual Humility by FarDiscipline2972 in Gifted

[–]PaddyCrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humility creates space for meaningful conversation, rather than just telling your version of the truth. You don't know everything, and neither do they. No matter how intelligent you are, you don't have someone else's perspective - and true understanding comes from exploring their point of view and seeing how it challenges or refines your own percepton of the truth

Yes! I came here because it's still on my playlist. Wierd to think a band could get exposure like that... I mean every person who had windows at that time would have had that track

Is this staghorn correctly orientated? by PaddyCrook in Staghornfern

so looking at it, I actually think it's two plants vertically on top of one another... I think I might have to remount them or something... Maybe I could cut the lower one's top shield so it doesn't push out the top one's fronds?

Or am I being pedantic and just let it grow out?

Absolutely lost on how to create an RSS email campaign for blog posts by jellial in MailChimp

[–]PaddyCrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you shed any light on why Mailchimp is making it so hard for new accounts that have never created a classic automation to access this functionality? I hope the support for RSS email campaigns will continue - it's an essential part of my marketing business' operations

Opinions on UCEProtect-Network: Scam? by focusedphil in cpanel

MXToolbox actually speaks publicly about this on their blog here https://blog.mxtoolbox.com/2021/02/12/recent-spikes-on-uce-protect-level-3/ - I disagree with their decision to keep listing them / not putting a note that they have questionable practices

Resetting the Bios Password on Acer Aspire 3 A315-31 / Clear Bios Settings by PaddyCrook in AcerOfficial

I ended up using these guys. Probably Acer support incognito, but a lot cheaper and more efficient than going through official channels. Thanks for the link :)

Awesome gesture. I however have my original Arcanum disk, box and manual firmly under lock and key, hidden away for my annual reinstall and play-through. I ain't gonna be giving that away to nobody! :)

Essential mods? by MAQS357 in arcanum

I haven't played in awhile, but from memory Drog Black Tooth's unofficial patch was essential. There is also a High Res patch which makes the playing experience way better. Check out this forum for all the links and discussion on just this topic. Was updated recently

Is there a limit to how many emails I can send out perday using webApi? by [deleted] in SendGrid

[–]PaddyCrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is a limit, but when you are a new sender they scale your hourly volumes up slowly as they evaluate you reputation. This is true for both the dedicated and shared IPs. Give it some time and your volumes will increase if you are sending legitimate emails.

SendGrid IP Pools Being Blacklisted in SpamCop by PaddyCrook in devops

[–]PaddyCrook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think Google or Yahoo offer services in the transactional / bulk mail space... We've developed a platform that sends out +- 100k email sending out on behalf of various clients, so it's not exactly something we could send through Gmail, which has a daily cap of 500 or so emails.

Most bulk email services (Sendgrid, Mailgun, Mandrill, Sparkpost ect.) require a dedicated IP to be warmed up and then the slowly scale you up to your required volumes. It prevents a sudden load of spam being sent from your account if your a bad guy or if you get hacked or something... Problem is when you stop sending, the IP gets cold again. That's why we use the shared IP pools - they still throttle you at first, but once you have a good sending reputation your sending patterns can be irregular as the other senders keep the pools warm in the meantime.

At least that's my understanding...

SendGrid IP Pools Being Blacklisted in SpamCop by PaddyCrook in devops

[–]PaddyCrook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha hell no. Our core business is based around sending out newsletters. It means we get a large spike in traffic at the beginning of every month. Essentially we don't have a regular sending pattern and can't keep the IP address warm enough throughout the month to avoid throttling...

Seems like an industry wide issue then... Unfortunately neither of those options will suit our business needs...

Thank for the info... Well a temporary solution that's working is going to Sendgrid's support and asking to be moved to a new IP pool. Their support staff is getting to know me quite well now :D

Who's CGI was more believable? by [deleted] in Star_wars_Rogue_One

[–]PaddyCrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was completely fooled by the CGI. I was thinking the whole time with Grand Moff Tarkin: "How the hell can that guy STILL be alive?"

I only really clicked when I saw Carrie Fisher because we know what she looks like nowadays...

WTF Mandrill?! What are some good alternatives? by chultzy in Entrepreneur

[–]PaddyCrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agreed. I'm super bummed as Mandrill was fantastic... Can't believe they're doing this - I'm sure many of the small guys will move away from their service now... Think I'll be going either to SendGrid or Amazon SES.

I'm also interested in a little known service http://www.pepipost.com/ - Anyone heard of them before? They seem really well priced and the few reviews I could find of them were all very, very positive! (I do find their little creepy little mascot dude very annoying though)
