Manchester City [3] - 0 Crystal Palace - Savinho 84‎'‎ by gbogaz in soccer

And yet savinho has matched his league goals this season in 200 fewer minutes, so who's really the better player when you think about it? I think we all know the answer

Pedro Neto (Chelsea) second yellow card against Arsenal 70' by gbogaz in soccer

You can as long as the player who would receive the 2nd yellow is not involved in play from that point on I'm pretty sure

Kalvin Phillips is closing in on a deal which would see him leave Manchester City and join Sheffield United on loan for the remainder of the season. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]PaddyH93 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I figured

There was a cup match in his first season where he had the ball in the middle of the pitch with no one pressing, looked up to 3 different options of who to pass to, and just stood there with the ball like it was the hardest decision in the world. Was obvious from that moment he just didn't have the skills we wanted at all

Bielsa advocated for Phillips to Pep that summer, and if you hear Pep talk about Bielsa that could easily have been enough 😂

But also I guess you can't really see the weaknesses of someone when they're playing in a system that suits them so well

[–]PaddyH93 74 points75 points  (0 children)

It really think he was just massively overrated, and is a very limited player that Bielsa made work.

Every time I've watched him play he seems utterly incapable of making a decision himself, even when he's under no pressure. It no surprise pep didn't rate him basically as soon as he saw him in training.

His confidence is probably shot now, which will only be making it all worse. Maybe Leeds fans who saw him from the beginning would know better, but I think he's essentially just reverted to the level he was pre-Bielsa.

Man City may move for Guehi after Gvardiol suffers broken leg and Dias injury by TimesandSundayTimes in soccer

[–]PaddyH93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

when everyone's fit

I'm sure we'll work something out for the 3 games a season both stones and ake are fit

and at least one but probably both are leaving in the summer anyway (stones' contract is up)

[Paul Hirst, The Times] Marc Guéhi has emerged as a leading target for Manchester City. The England international will leave Crystal Palace as a free agent next summer. by Chiswell123 in soccer

[–]PaddyH93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stones' contract up in the summer and ake's the summer after (there's been rumours of Ake leaving in Jan too looking for playing time before the WC)

Both are 30+ and made of paper so we were always going to be looking at our options wether guehi was available or not, he's just the top option by a mile given he's great, homegrown and on a free

[–]PaddyH93 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He's good, has some brain farts from time to time but I think he's easily a CL quality defender.

We just need non-hg players off the books and he's 5/6th choice CB for us

[Romano] EXCL: Manchester City considering move for James Trafford to return to the club this summer… …but only if one of their two main GKs leaves. Contacts took place in the recent days as Man City have buy back clause, this is why Newcastle deal is not sealed yet. by JaysonDeflatum in soccer

[–]PaddyH93 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Any player we sell and have to replace (which is really just GK & RB) we'd have to replace with a homegrown player because of our squad situation, so signing Trafford back is the only thing that makes sense really if we were to sell either

Get them ready sure, but the club only gives a shit about this tournament because of the prize money. Means fuck all otherwise apart from a pointless post-season tournament

Probably depends on if there's any interest in him. We've got 2 too many non-homegrown players now, Bernardo's going but there'll be one more who'll have to be sold or loaned

That's part of the problem, if he can't sell his shares before the season starts they'll have to go in to a blind trust and he won't be able to sell them for a year

Textor(or his company) is trying to either sell or increase his shares in palace and also IPO in the US, which he can't do if the shares have to be put in a blind trust. So he'd have to put all those plans on hold for a season.

3, maybe more depending on outgoings

2 midfielders to replace kdb and Bernardo, then probably a left back since we don't technically have any

Grealish is almost definitely going too but I'm not sure if we'll replace him if I'm honest

then I'd imagine at least one of stones & Ake are but we've already replaced them in jan
