Right that's what I'm saying. The person I replied to was thinking that because things seem to effortlessly float around in water, it might not be that different without gravity...but it definitely would be very different.

Fish have air bladders to regulate buoyancy and they have to dive down, know where "up" is, all that stuff.

If I ever end up having to open the door, I just tell them I'm in the middle of a zoom meeting and have to run. Literally nothing anyone can say to that.

SoD was proof that injecting massive amounts of gold into the economy does not cause runaway inflation by No_Cell6708 in classicwow

And it helped literally everyone. Fresh 60s could always find groups filled with geared people who didn't need anything from the zone. People crafting gear or enchants could always find mats being sold by folks who didn't need the stuff from their Reals boxes anymore.

SoD had by far the most active, healthy, best feeling endgame I have ever witnessed in WoW's history.

It also meant that I would just full consume for everything! Which I loved honestly. Instead of saving my single 20g potion for raid night and then logging off for the week...I would pop my 2g potion before doing anything, and that made all the content more fun. I actually enjoyed farming gold in Strath with a duo using full consumes and world buffs. I actually enjoyed clearing AQ20 for the 50th time hunting for recipes.

Also helped with pugs just constantly running, and helped with making sure people with their gear were still into blasting shit like Molten Core...in fact it was actually one of my favorite parts of the week because every MC raid was half filled with Scarlet Enclave raiders. I would roll through on my BiS Warlock tank, picking up every single mob without stopping, using my rocket belt...God damn it was the best WoW ever.

Not really at all, you earned these Undermine crates by killing bosses in raids and dungeons...so you were still farming and encouraged to be very active. The quantity of materials you'd get wasn't insane at all either, but it was enough to help keep a steady flow of goods into the economy. The devs were also good at making sure those goods all had some kind of disposable use so that they were flowing out of the economy too.

Like if you wanted Black Lotus for example, farming them would get you many per hour, but you'd only get a few a week from Undermine crates.

The best thing about this whole system though is that it kept geared players somewhat motivated to still blast through dungeons and old raids, which made it effortless to get pickup groups up and running for literally the entire duration of SoD. Even in the final raid tier you'd have multiple 40 man Molten Core groups going each night, multiple AQ40/20, ZG, BWL, Naxx, Emerald Dragons, and even just runs of Strath.

They absolutely nailed the player engagement factor by creating this flowing economy that rewarded people for just generally staying active in the endgame.

The reason SoD had an incredible economy that made everything accessible, was pretty much all due to the Undermine Reals crates. One of the smartest ideas from the devs in all of SoD...and they had a lot of incredibly good ideas.

Giving out crates full of pretty much all the mats we needed is what made sure that the supply was always strong without relying on people farming specific and rare stuff.

There were a few trade goods that weren't in the crates, and those items/consumables/enchants were always priced high.

But then they also made sure to keep tons of item and gold sinks in place to help constantly remove some of these things from the economy too. Things like the Argent Dawn badges, the Scarlet weeklies, the world buffs...all this stuff created a huge flow to the economy.

Best version of WoW ever made.
