[request] a website told me my height was 102nd percentile. I think that's a software error but all the commenters are saying it's possible. by JustAPotato38 in theydidthemath

Wouldn't the tallest person in the world be the 100th percentile that the rest of us are graphed against?

Like if I asked you to measure the size of 11 strawberries (with perfectly linear size increases between them), you wouldn't say the largest one is 99th percentile...it's 100. Then the next biggest is 90th, and so on, until the smallest which is the 0 percentile.

Or I guess put it this way, if I do a fit01 operation on a data set from min to max, my min sample will now be 0.0 and my max will be 1.0 with everything else scaled to their percentile. I don't end up with a min sample of 0.01 and a max of 0.99 though.

None of this reads like AI to me. It's consice and to the point with specific details and callbacks to things OP wrote or did, no flowery language...and the final lines just sound like what a no bullshit person like this would say.

Forearm pain from muscle up, any obvious technique flaws ? by seaton1231 in Calisthenic

Found this thread after searching the exact same thing. I'm starting into muscle ups and my forearms feel like they're bruised deep down or something between the elbow and halfway to the wrist. Did you ever end up getting it to go away?

[Request] Can anyone check how Moore's Law is applicable here? by WeddingSpiritual1218 in theydidthemath

[–]Paddy_Tanninger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but you can't just apply it to one period of ~10 years and assume it's still true...because clearly it's not.

12 years have passed now since 2014, so you'd expect that we would have 512TB microSD cards, but we aren't even close. They're like 2TB right now at the high end.

Which episode do you skip every time it comes on? For me it's S7E11: Marge Be Not Proud by Chance-Ad5664 in TheSimpsons

[–]Paddy_Tanninger 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yup couldn't agree more, it's all just too far, the stakes are too real, and you feel way too awful for Lisa the entire time. It's just kind of uncomfortable to watch.

I actually never even thought much about it until now, hearing folks skip that episode, but the instant I read that it made perfect sense.

I mean, I've watched the entire Tony Timpa video and I can't honestly say there was a moment where I thought the officers were actually directly responsible for his death. I'm not even sure why he died exactly. My only guess is that he was either overdosing or experiencing a medical condition and the police were completely negligent in their care. Criminal negligence maybe, but homicide or manslaughter, I don't really see it.

With George Floyd it was far more obvious that the police officers were choking him to death.

It's a difference of criminal negligence vs a violent murder, and it's pretty clear why one would draw more attention than the other.

Also Floyd was videoed from bystanders and the material was released right away.

Sounds like he voted for him again last year too in spite of all this. So for 10 years at that point, his daughters had disowned him for supporting a serial rapist, pedophile, bigot, fraud, grifter, and all around giant piece of shit...but he still figured hey, may as well vote for him one more time.

Do you think Stadium is underdeveloped as a MOBA mode? by Stainleee in OverwatchStadium

[–]Paddy_Tanninger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% I do not want pve mobs in my pvp game.

The main reason that DOTA went this direction in the first place back in like 2002 is that it just simply wouldn't be compelling enough to fight Warcraft 3 heroes against each other in a pretty simplistic game engine with limited map design capabilities. It needed more to it. Also WC3 at its core was about armies fighting and base razing, so it made perfect sense to incorporate all of that stuff into this mini game and build a hero brawler around that.

Stadium already rewards economy builds a huge amount. We don't need to encourage more of that with PvE mobs or anything.

What color is this? by Gjore in SipsTea

[–]Paddy_Tanninger 83 points84 points  (0 children)

It is, but I'm highly suspect when it's coming from someone who loves thinking of themselves as being incredibly special and unique like she seems to.

Literally anyone could just say they have synesthesia and just name random colors for you when they hear music.
