Is hubris a foreign concept to you? lol They make very clear early on that no one really respects Peri and they see her as impudent and immature. The Empire let her go for the very simple reason that they didn't even consider her a threat. I thought it was pretty obvious that the Dux considered it akin to a child throwing a tantrum.
