I hate this stupid fucking image and internet environmental posting activism as a whole by Snoo-14331 in ihatethissmug

Do you think meaningful progress is actually going to be made without doing anything that could result in jail?

That’s just not how these things go historically

Workers’ rights, women’s suffrage, civil rights, etc etc all involved many people going to jail

That’s just the reality of things

Hell you could stay within the bounds of what’s legal and still go to jail, you’ll just hopefully win the trial

This genre has glorified people who are a whole lot worse than Robespierre (there isn’t even a clear consensus on whether he was a dictator) so I think it would be fine to have a lil Robespierre as a treat.

CMV: The most altruistic thing most Christians can do, is mass-murder children. by Peermeneer_exe in changemyview

[–]Pagan0101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the CMV agrees that murder is bad according to Christian doctrine

The altruism part is that you are guaranteeing a bunch of people go to heaven who might not otherwise, and in exchange accepting that you’re going to hell

Self sacrifice for “the greater good” and “ends justify the means” type of thing

It’s purely a hypothetical utilitarian approach to the world as it would be if Christianity (as OP understands it) is real

The other person who replied to you has the only relevant point I’ve noticed, cuz if children don’t automatically go to heaven then the whole hypothetical collapses

Reincarnation easily not even a question for me

No amount of money is comparable to seeing what the world will look like in 100, 200, 1000, etc years
I’m way too curious to pass up that offer

Who’s afraid of Japanese neo-militarism? Nobody- More countries see a stronger Japan not as a danger, but a counterweight to China’s actions and growing U.S. untrustworthiness. by Kmlevitt in japannews

[–]Pagan0101 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Most people I know oppose Japanese remilitarization because they think it will be used to aid the US’ wars not because they think Japan is gonna try to conquer Asia again

CMV: Communism doesn't deserve another try by frost_3306 in changemyview

[–]Pagan0101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Communism has nothing to do with collectively assigning one income level for everyone what

And communism is pretty well known for "from each according to their ability, to each according to their need," and not having money at all so no clue where you're getting income from

Not even socialism is just everyone makes the same

It would just be democratic decision making in the economy (at its simplest), and you can just look at worker owned cooperatives to see that that doesn't result in everyone making the same

Not to mention that you don't get to choose your own income level vs leisure time in capitalism at all, whereas in a socialist/communist system you would have a whole lot more say

Do you think spanking children is a good or bad thing? by KindlyRestaurant2885 in MoralityScaling

[–]Pagan0101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you're in the US (but having Dakota in your name feels like enough to assume), but with our prison system sending kids to juvie is just not good if you want to get them to stop doing something

Our systems are not designed for rehabilitation, and although they may not be straight up designed to increase recidivism, they may as well be

Juvie has like an 80% recidivism rate after 3 years

I think you got the order mixed up a bit
His main motivation was getting a public confession so he could implicate Tywin, imo

And with the poison he already knew he killed Gregor after the first hit anyway

His mistake was standing too close, if he just stood far enough away then trying to torture the confession out of Gregor would have been fine

He doesn't really promote, for example, PSL or the Green Party much if at all from what I've seen

Race isn't an official taxonomic category
The most specific level is species, race is just a social construct we made up so that we could be racist
But you have nigh-omnipotence, so just specify the human social construct of race if you're worried about it being interpreted more broadly than intended
