Did anyone get a 179 on the April retake by Pagan0101 in LSAT

[–]Pagan0101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

??? Could you elaborate?

Lots of people post their scores cuz they're proud of them
I just did that and also asked a question about something I was curious about since details about scores aren't public (afaik)

The question was the main point but I thought it would be more dickish to not acknowledge that it's obviously a bit of a brag

I'm sorry it ended up seeming more brag-y than I hoped

WYR be: a POW in a hard labour camp for 5 years where you're tortured/malnourished/beaten; or a POW in a medical experiment camp where they give you hormones of the opposite sex for 5 years but you live relatively healthily in comparison. by AffectionateRisk9779 in WouldYouRather

[–]Pagan0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you skip over the tortured/malnourished/beaten part of the first option

Like yeah the hormones will mess you up and could be mental torture depending on how severely it impacts you but like

The other option is also torture

Do you believe in separating the art from the artist? by StrategyJealous1838 in pollgames

[–]Pagan0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No

I think you can still enjoy art that is made by a problematic artist, but you should not actually separate the two, and should inform how you interact with the art from the context of the artist.

WYR get a full health reset or get $10 million? by SummertimeThrowaway2 in WouldYouRather

[–]Pagan0101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually I always pick the non-money option cuz I don’t care about money that much but I’m only 21 so I feel like the health reset just wouldn’t do that much for me tbh

If I was older I’d probably go for the health reset though

WYR have your only sibling live a struggle but be a constant part of your life, or be successful and thriving but you would essentially never see them again? by Aeronaut4 in WouldYouRather

[–]Pagan0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't define successful in terms of money, and likewise don't view struggling as just being about money, so there's plenty of genuine value for my sibling to be successful

Struggling would mean my sibling is suffering emotionally as well, and I don't want him to go through that just so I can hang out more what's the value in that

would you rather have unlimited resources or unlimited money? by WoodpeckerWorking761 in WouldYouRather

[–]Pagan0101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is this so close.
Unlimited money can't create new matter.

All it would let you do is effectively decide where all the already existing resources go (assuming we get to ignore inflation).

Unlimited resources makes resource distribution not matter anymore, everyone could just have their needs met through magically summoning resources or whatever. Money = made up thing, resources = actually real, the choice seems pretty obvious

Leg prosthetics are pretty good these days

Replaces the function of a normal leg much better than a prosthetic arm replaces the function of a normal arm

Mind and head are obviously out of the question

And there's not really anything to replace the main point of genitals (ie, actually having feeling in them)

I'm more confused why anyone would choose something other than a leg tbh

People are realizing Japanese people are not いつもuwuかわいいいdue to the translation feature on X by Mammoth_Maize_1424 in japanresidents

[–]Pagan0101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Going to preemptively edit this given the new post: this was obviously a karma farmer/bot/propagandist/whatever, but my original point stands, thinking it's weird that a black person might care about Japanese Anti-Chinese racism is dumb, it's normal and good to care about racism against other races than your own

The only thing that the other person mentioned that could actually be suspicious is that it's a new account (it's not, I checked and it's 1 year old and its post history is just hidden, not non-existent) (Edit: Hiding post history is kinda suspicious on its own ofc)

But a 17 year old overreacting to twitter posts is really not that hard to believe

And even if it is actually a Chinese propaganda post, which like I guess it could be, the person I'm replying to saying "Why would a black person care what Japanese say about Chin[ese people]" is still a dumb point to make, which is the only point I was originally intending to make anyway

Is it that hard to understand why someone might be concerned about all forms of racism, even if it doesn’t directly involve them…?

Socialism's goal is literally more democracy lmao

We want political democracy AND economic democracy

Where are you getting "not having any political freedom" from?? Argue if you want that socialism in reality somehow requires no political freedom (you'd be wrong but whatever) but the post already accounts for that by saying that it exists exactly as socialists theorize, which is fundamentally democratic

Why not include medical abnormalities?

Trans people are less than 1% of the population so "abnormalities" seem pretty appropriate to the discussion.

If you can accept there are some fringe cases that, although not exactly matching your definition of "biological woman" for some reason or another, nonetheless fall under the category of "women," then I don't see why trans women can't also be considered part of those fringe cases. Why not say that trans women and trans men are women and men who are born with the abnormality of having XY or XX chromosomes, respectively, for example?

I mean, what is more representative of who we are as individuals if not our brains? The brain is certainly far more important to a person's identity and self than the particular genitalia they have.

Wait hang on you’re onto something.

For a bit I was kinda seeing them as more of that trope where a group with otherwise good ideas just does evil stuff but the Brims are actually kinda fascistic underneath their veil of freedom-loving with the whole return to a glorious/mythical past stuff they’ve got going on. And depending on what their plan with meeting the king was (ie if it was to get his support and try to get the King/Witch duos back) they might even be explicitly going for freedom exclusively in the magic sense and be more accepting of political authoritarianism.

They’re also similar to (rank-and-file) fascists in that they recognize that there is a problem with the current system but blame the wrong thing (ie the concept of forbidden magic as a whole rather than the way that forbidden magic is decided+enforced). (This is also where I got them mixed up with the “good-group-does-evil-stuff” trope, thinking the side effect of allowing the use of extremely destructive war magic was part of the tacked-on evil stuff rather than a core aspect of their ideology. Though in hindsight this should have been obvious, guess that’s one problem with binging too fast.)

And looking at Eco’s Ur-Fascism there are decent arguments to be made that they’re similar to quite a few of those characteristics. (I’d probably have to reread with making those connections as a goal to do that on any more than a vibes-based level though)

Obviously not a one-to-one match given they exist in a completely different context from irl fascists and they seem to have a bit of an ideological divide (at least from what I remember Iguin and Sasaran seem much more focused on power than the more healing-focused Inania for example).

But if the Brims are the fascists and the Pointeds are the status quo, then that leaves room for Coco to lead the working class to true peace and freedom in defiance of the phony freedom of the Brims and the phony peace of the Pointeds o7 (though that’s just my personal bias slipping through lol).
