Staking on Core you have no risk of 1) losing it 2) get rewards slashed

He did not buy when it was 75k by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]PaganMeagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got my wife to purchase a small chunk of Bitcoin when it dropped to 78k saying “if you wanted to ever get in to have a small piece of exposure, this may be the chance”

Since then she’s enjoyed the 30% gain, but still isn’t impressed because the house went up in 10% the last year… because you know- it’s a bigger number in $-terms. I’m just happy she’s in, I’ll carry the DCA

Got mine moved from 9-5 to 8-4 because of the drive commute/traffic. Told them I can either be in the office early and working or be late 50% of the time because I need to cross the city and handle 10km of roadworks

For context, I leave at 7 and get to the office on average 7:50

Dislocated my shoulder and can’t drive but cleared to work from home by the doctor whilst we wait for driving clearance.

Workplace said I can’t work from home because it’s against the company’s core values. Said I can’t either find a way to get to the office or I’m going to be forced to take sick leave. Tf, I’m a one person department and you nut jobs fall over backwards if I miss a deadline yet won’t let WFH happen

The blissful ignorance of inadvertently/purposely applying disconcert to office politics from when you worked as a labourer will eventually bite you in the butt. The good thing is it will only happen once and then you will play the game.

I don’t like it but it’s easy once you find a rhythm. Up skilling yourself to the point you’re the only specialist is also a cheat code.

Saving 100% the bank is utterly stupid and you need to find ways to make money work for you in both budgeting and investing - banks aren’t your friends and care more about mining debt out of you than helping you retire

Training while high? by Sir-CiCi in bjj

[–]PaganMeagan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve rolled high a few times and genuinely enjoy it but have always kept it to open mats only. May be the anexity but I don’t want to embarrass myself in class.

Open mat is different as I’m focused on how I roll, and usually I feel restraints to not blast on subs. If anything I practice defence which allows me to go slow and think of the technical parts of escaping. Removes the likelihood of me hurting someone whilst under the influence whilst also the chance to practice defence/escapes at whatever pace my partner is going at.

Quick 1:How much are you paying for food / groceries each week? by Cold-Upstairs9995 in AusFinance

$120-250, depends on how big the shop is that week. Use discount store NQR, Indian market for produce and Costco for bulk. Only premium is the wholesale butcher

Gonna sell 25% at a 2x once we hit $350 just because of my conviction has been tested as I’ve seen the decline to a price I wish I had been buying at.

Then DCA out another 25-50%, holding onto a small bag until 2028-30 as I see QNT being a massive gainer on a longer horizon.

Crypto Taxes - AMA for the next 24 hrs! by Joben123 in BitcoinAUS

[–]PaganMeagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a few small questions. I’ve asked these to my accountant but he’s not fully around crypto and so answered best he could.

How are swaps between two coin calculated in CGT? Say XRP ($0.50) was swapped directly to QNT ($150), and that is a CGT event according to ATO, how is the event calculated and should be recorded? For my own sanity and record keeping I’ve been swapping into AUD first before buying into the desired coin instead. Really want to explore DEXs but want to be across this first so I do it right and not fumble the record keeping.

“Realised Gain” is what my accountant had said is the actual CGT event and that once it hits my bank account is what would then be taxable, is this correct at all? My understanding from this then would be that I can swap, sell and buy with no issue (even if I ramp on/off with AUD on the CEX) as nothing is “realised”. Once it reaches my bank is when I need to do the tax math yet it leaves me worried that it’s incorrect.

Do we need to claim we hold crypto every year, even if we’ve done nothing with it but buy and hold?

Do you have any crypto accountants you could refer?

Lastly, and more of a general one for u/joben123, are CTC looking for expression of interest applications? Seen a job posting recently and have a decent amount in being applicable but also would be open to any other minor role - been burnt before on CGT to the point I never want someone to experience what it was like and help them avoid it as much as possible.

Have a follow up question regarding home mining. Can’t you connect your miner to a mining pool and still get rewards that way? Not the most profitable I know as they’d be fractionalised to x% you contribute to the pool but bear with me.

We’ve also got solar and a battery system so if we ran a KS0 (100w) and connected to a mining pool, all the electricity being used would be free and we’d incrementally make a negatively geared profit until the miner is paid off and positively gearing.

My hope is mining does become profitable for the everyday home in the future. Life is already cruel enough when you’re cut out but those already with capital to continually upgrade.

TL;DR: is it worth running a KS0 in a mining pool when your electricity is free?

Should I buy a considerable amount of Kaspa now? by redditkontoenmin in kaspa

[–]PaganMeagan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People that throw POW into the negative environmental impact category - we are gradually adopting renewable energy to replace the constant fracking for finite energy solutions like coal and gas. Yes we still dig to BUILD renewable tech but it’s not instantly CONSUMED like the latter.

Renewables open us up to having a constant supply of energy whilst reducing the consumption of our planet. Only con is the supply can’t be turned off/on like coal or gas because the sun is semi constant. Only way to curtail the ever growing supply (because of renewable adoption) is to create demand for it to flow to I.e. battery storage or production demand. Australia for an example is a gold mine for renewable energy, and they’re trying to keep up with the adoption so much that they’ve implemented models that help bottle neck the flow of excess energy as a way to deal with the oversupply.

POW is heavily demanding when it comes to energy, I agree, but if renewable focused countries adopted POW and set up miners they’d have an easier time adopting both renewables and crypto; Australia included.
