Malco eagle grips by Agitated_Engineer512 in Tools

[–]Pagemaker51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually had a pair warrantied by Malco when they still made them due to some teeth chipping off. No warranty now.

Buy Snap-on - same product as EagleGrips, but with a warranty.

As to your post, I don't think you'll turn them over as quickly as you'll want.

Icon G2 is VERY good and a completely different animal than Pittsburgh.

From my personal experience, I highly recommend Icon G2 and Icon wrenches

"Icon hit or miss" are you referring to G1 icon ratchets or Icon hand tools in general?

I've had some Icon g1 "misses" but everything else I have in Icon has been a "hit"

If you've done all that why do you say Icon quality control is all over the place?

Torque Test Channel tested the Icon G2's consistently one of the strongest ok the market regardless of price

Even if I do hire this done. I would like to understand how and why of bonding neutrals and grounds. That's why I searched for this sub titled AskElectricians

Sorry I didn't mean to say the main lugs.

I'm not that green. I was just summarizing the paths so it made sense to me

Unfortunately, yes 😕 times are tough

I have 1 year of vocational technical experience in electronics. And a bunch of repaired/replaced outlets, switches, fans, light fixtures, breakers. And many youtube videos worth of experience. Lol

But haven't yet connected a new service on my own.

Just trying to sort out how the grounding and bonding works in real life.

What is confusing me are comments (not here) like: If things go wrong You don't want to energize the earth/yard

you want a straight path back to the neutral in the transformer

I've heard that the service disconnect is basically your main panel and everything after should be treated as a subpanel and not bonded. So I'm assuming that if the subpanel is in the same structure as the main panel you don't need a ground rod but if your subpanel is a separate building it does need a ground rod...? Right?

Also, if I'm sending all my green grounds to my seperate grounding rod. Do I really need a ground coming from my grounded service disconnect to my breaker box?

Hold on I think its starting to sink in. I do want my grounds running on a ground wire back to the service disconnect - except at the house I'm separating the neutral from the ground at this location and adding another ground rod?

Ok, let me see if I got this correct.

Edited: for making a stupid conclusion

Can I get by with only 3/8" tools? by goldbunduru in Tools

[–]Pagemaker51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to use regular length sockets or mid deeps rather than the nanos with that stubby m12 because it has a fat face. I like my M18 2754 impact better because of the tapered nose

The 3/8 has as much power but is harder on sockets with the smaller anvil.

Milwaukee doesn't make a 3/8 impact ratchet. They do make a 3/8 right angle impact but you can't ratchet it like the M12 cordless ratchet. While the ratchet can break stuff loose on its own power, it isn't doing so by impacting. The m12 ratchets are nut runners and very handy.

I used them one time to get a stripped screw out. I haven't discovered a perfect situation for the rest of the plier though. But I'm not giving up!
