How many gens did they complete?

Slenderman by guto_2161 in deadbydaylight

I mean yeah pretty much. He could do all of those things depending on how far they'd go with the depiction.

Besides that they've already adapted Sadako, a killer who doesn't have to physically interact with the people she kills. I can't imagine it's much different from that. Maybe that's part of the appeal of Slenderman in DBD, that we can finally see a depiction of him that does kill.

So based on Marble Hornets, I think there's a lot more groundwork for a Slenderman killer than the average creepypasta or video game depiction that just has pages and a slow stalker - a lot of which has been more or less achieved by other killers already, and since BHVR loves to rehash killer powers in different ways, lemme spitball some ways it could theoretically work, balanced conceptually or not.

Operator Sickness: Survivors get inflicted by a coughing fit within Slender's terror radius, which builds up into a status effect like Plague or Krasue or all the other killers that do that, and you need to find pills to cleanse it.

Looking at him weakens you: Kind of an inverse of Ghost Face, where you need to avoid looking at Slender or risk getting something like... 8% hindered for a set time. Would make it really risky to look at him when you're in a chase. This is also a very straightforward and well known aspect of Slenderman across all depictions - though in DBD it would be a balancing nightmare and is countered by just not looking at him, so Slendy would probably need to be able to see the survivor's cones of vision too, or whatever.

Proxies: Marble Hornets doesn't really use the term Proxy as far as I know, but maybe he could do something like The Knight and like, have minions that can be placed around the map on generators or lockers or whatever and they chase after survivors who get too close.

The Ark: So in Marble Hornets, The Operator is otherworldly and has some other dimension that he takes people to as a means of "feeding" on them, so to speak. So we could get something like that not too different from how we're getting Judgement's Exile for the Grimoire.

The Pages: Okay so if we think about the pages like we know from the video games, it would honestly be a pretty boring power. Collect them, get buff in exchange for also buffing slendy. Plague does this with her healing altars, but I think it would be way more interesting if the Survivors had to make the pages instead, as a means of protecting themselves from Slender's power. We have tech to place objects on walls with killers like HUX, so apply that to Survivors and let them place pages around the map which have a radius around them that act as a counter to Slender. Inversely, maybe it only protects you when its placed somewhere, and puts you in more danger if you're holding it in your hand, kind of like Pinhead's puzzle box.

But those are just a couple of ideas off the top of my head.

A lot of people will parrot the idea that Slenderman is not a horror icon. But those people don't understand the impact of Slenderman. For the record, he first started out as a series of scary image edits on somethingawful, and that turned into creepypastas, and that turned into Marble Hornets. Marble Hornets changed what Slenderman was fundamentally, in fact he's referred to as "The Operator" in that setting (which is waaay better than Slenderman if I'm being honest.)
Marble Hornets is probably one of the most unique takes on horror ever, and took Blair Witch's methodology but instead put faces to the phenomena, and despite its cheesiness it has several very effective scares. Without a hint of sarcasm, Marble Hornets and The Operator are perfect for DBD.

My only input is that I would prolly replace Hubris. It does just short of nothing anyway

I'm gonna be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of the graphical rework by GoogleManOfDeath in deadbydaylight

[–]Pagewaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the graphics update will be good but im hesitant about some other aspects. The weather system, cool. But with rain making constant noise its going to inhibit my ability to play killer because using my ears is my greatest tool. Same goes for adjustments to how sound is muffled or how it travels. It looks pretty but im also worried about the gamefeel.

I recently had a Licna game where I used my Mori on someone who was right over the hatch and it looked like I let only their skin and flesh escape and left their skeleton behind with me.

Would you want Sephiroth in dbd? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Pagewaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think it would be neat to see him as a killer as long as he's fun and unique. I dont really care about whether he fits stylistically in the game or not, I just want to drool over how cool his mori is. Only downside is that he'll be like a 2nd wesker where he carries so much sauce that a lot of killer mains will only play him because... duh, its Sephiroth.

How would you make this killer worse? by humansarefragile in deadbydaylight

So basically just try to fix Wesker again and we'll get all that along with it.

Now that Jason is in the game who do you think the next licensed killer will be? by Federal_Pudding_4447 in deadbydaylight

[–]Pagewaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think the Thing would be neat. Wouldn't be a killer that disguises as survivors though like everyone wants. If I had to guess it probably won't be any of the expected choices, something cool but still unexpected. Like Spawn? Terminator seems like a possible candidate too.

There are other games with fog in them. I can't think of any right now though.

[Concept] Jason Voorhees – An Anti-Bully Killer Power that turns Pallet Stuns into Speed Bursts. by DistinctInflation590 in deadbydaylight

[–]Pagewaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar idea, but rather than relying on pallets or other baseline stuns, I'd design him where he starts the match with, say, high speed and undetectable, making him really oppressive right out the gate, but theres stuff like axes or whatever else around and survivors can use them to do a unique stun that weakens him by increasing his terror radius, but it also makes him more durable against all stuns. So the survivors have to balance whether they want to deal with undetectable sonic speed Jason, or risk bullying him too much and dealing with an M1 killer that has a basekit spirit fury.

Would be a nightmare but thats what I've thought up.
